Yea buddy.
First time I changed the oil, I wore the black for a week before it finally wore off.
Synthetic is sure different than the dino oils that wash right off of you.
Fumoto cured that problem except for the filter. Still a bit jumps on ya.

Maybe some help on the Fumoto threads?

Steve

Sooo, I ended up just doing it without getting the Futomoto valve. Or a replacement washer. Both big mistakes. Here's my run-down:
1) It looked like a torque/6-star head bolt....but it isn't anymore. I slid through once with my torque once before putting in a Allen wrench. On inspection it actually IS a 6 star torque head that was cer-chunked by the last few guys who did the oil change
2) It definitely needs a washer...but it wasn't there. It seems like the same guys lost that also. Two strikes against my local garage. To be fair, I didn't go get one (time constraints) but had to double tighten the thing at risk of stripping the thing. I will definitely get some sort of sealing washer next time.
3) A futomoto would be nice. Non of my local parts stores (mostly chains) had any quick-change valves...though they claimed they all used to. My only worry is that a projecting valve (especially the n-series with nipples) could be a target for a rock and an quick de-oiling of my engine.
4) If my 4 quart Mobil 1 containers are correct, it takes well over 6 quarts to get to near the "max" line on the stick, more like 7+. I don't worry much about over-filling because of my elephant hose mod.

In short, I'll order a Futomoto for next time if the threads match. Meanwhile a washer/gasket is a MUST. And never really be careful who you let change your oil and frack-up your torque bolt drain plug.

Wax on, wax off, sand the floor - what ever it takes to relax and put the plug in right! Use a bent allen wrench and one hand only to snug up the drain plug. It won't leak and it won't fall out. It will stick a little but it will come out for the next oil change without any damage.
