Anybody know a reliable mechanic in Colorado that can replace my torque convertor? I just don't have the time to do it myself but as a do it yourselfer, I don't have much faith with dealer mechanics.

Thansk for the info about the snap rings.

Hemi TC installed in 07 KJ CRD - completed

Very nice improvement.

Here links to photos taken when installing Hemi TC in MY KJ CRD. I own all the photos here, and the JEEP, so there's no problem sharing the photos with those that are interested.

You can see the TC's for comparison, note the vane angles, transmission, jacks, hoists, flexplates, where the current cooler is installed etc. I have a cooler twice this size ready, however, it doesn't seem like its going to be necessary. Temps are quite ok.

Thanks GMCTD......

Congrats on the install and I hope to do it one day too. If anybody in Colorado wants to earn some extra scrat$$, PM me with what you would charge me to do the install with my help.

If you're in Colorado - you really should talk to tjkj2002

He may grump about CRD's - but he knows more about KJ's in general than any other mechanic you're likely to find anywhere, not to mention that he memorizes Service Manuals.

you'd probably have to go through his work so it'd cost more - but everything will work.

I live in Colorado Springs but can drive anywhere. I got tools needed at home and space in garage but need an extra hand to do the job and it'd be great if the extra help was someone who did the job before. I'd pay 300 for labor to help me get the job done correctly. That would be 37/hour if the job can be knocked out in 8 hours. Since I work most weekends and my work schedule is done 4 weeks in advance, I would need at least 4 weeks to request a weekend off to schedule the repair work.

Thanks!

the "snapring" is a metal band that snaps into a groove in the trans to hold something behind it... when you take the T/C out to take the front cover off there are 2 snap rings... one on the input shaft and one around the outside... if you have 3 you should get the updated pump and front cover...

anyone have the part numbers for the updated stuff?

Once the snap rings are removed, how do you grab a hold of the front cover and pump to pull them out?

If you have new ones as the ring that comes in the transgo kit its probably a good idea to put it in, the stock ones have been Known to come out. No use having a new stuff on the shelf doing nothing is there.

What type of jack did you guys use for the transmission? I'm thinking about buying the adapter that works with a floor jack.

Thanks,

I am stealing the idea from someone on here, a big ole 2x8x24 bolted to my jack and using rachet straps... worked on the T-18 and C6 in my old ford :)

Where did you look?

Probably any jeep/dodge dealership or supplier should be able to get it, just as if you drove in for a service to get your TC fixed in one of the vehicles that uses them. They will know if there has been a part number change and supply, try stevewhitemotors.com, its just a part thats been used in plenty of 545rfe's. Look harder, bound to be obtainable really easy in the US. ebay maybe, cyberjeep, jeep4x4 etc etc.....

Should be avail through lots of places, maybe even amazon....
