Something about a big fat pig kicking but at the track that makes people smile.

You go boy, fit some 255/60/17 rubber and you'll kick more butt

A60 just outside of Bitburg near Trier. I was heading back to the track after forgeting some important parts at home.

Yep, me. :-) Give me a shout, I'll meet you there.

Actually, I'd like to get the Miata up there next year too. Such a beautiful track. I'd love to whip the little roadster around it a few times.

They have this thing called holiday laps there. You bring a toy or like $25 and you get to run as many times as the day permits. A guy at work told me about it and im going, just not in the Liberty. Its on November 14th. He said that you run behind a pace-car and you cannot pass BUT, he said the pace car hauls.... and he had a Z06, so im sure it is fun.

Here in Germany it is call "Tourist Driving" and you pay a fee for either time (Hockenheimring) or per lap (Nuerburgring). There is no pace car and you can pass or hit something at your will. Some fokes just do not know when to let up and they cause problems for the rest of us. The people that know when enough is enough generally keep the places open. I have been mirror to mirrior with cars on the Nuerburgring in the curves. From what I have seen from Videos of VIR, the tree is about the only thing you really have to worry about. Now if I brought the race car to VIR that would be a different story.

BTW I have former racing buddy in VA Beach with a C5 prepped for GM racing that wants me to turn some laps in as well.

I'm headed there (again) on 15/16 November. Oak Tree is the closet thing to the track, but there are more than enough areas to get yourself in trouble!

LOL I have years of learning how to stay out of trouble att eh Nuerburgring, you make a small mistake there and it is all over. Normally if you step off the track, it is over with. Check some of the videos out and see how close the railings are to the track. The only place there is a concrete wall I saw a guy put a Ferrari Testerosa into it, like a cheese graiter.

From what I've seen of Nurburgring, the curbs are extremely high in some areas. I would imagine running over one of them could get you airborn.

No they are more like pinball machine bumpers, they throw you back into the track, if you are lucky. No the guard rails that line the track are like 6 feet from the track edge, so no room for runoff. You barely get a S out of your mouth.

I still wish they raced motorcycles on the "big track".

That track, and the Isle of Man TT course are the last two true tests of how big a motorcycle racers cajones are.

I'm doing Ed Bargy Racing School this Friday, then I'm off to Barber Motorsports Park for two days in October. I'm going to see if I can squeeze a trip in to JenningsGP down in Florida before the end of the year.

That will give me 7 track days this year, equaling last years total.

Never drive a 4 wheeled vehicle on the track before. Heck, that would be like cheating. :)

Well you should see the faces of drivers when they see the "grill" in the rear view mirror, priceless.

I don't need to go there to know that. I've learned that on Forza 2!

Video games are NOTHING like the real thing. I said this to a friend that said the same, then he finally drove it, he agreed with me after that. Wiki has a pretty good write up about it.

I've ridden Road Atlanta, and Forza is pretty well spot on as far as the track is concerned. The only thing you don't get is the extreme g-forces that track puts you through. Lots of elevation changes.

Coming under the Suzuki bridge into turn 12 (I rode the OLD turn 12) is amazing. You go over a blind crest at wide open throttle and the front comes up on you a bit, then you drop what has to equate to a three story drop. It's amazing.

..But with the simulators out there now, you can quickly learn appropriate lines etc for the track. My comment was aimed at the margin for error comment. Which is very small on Forza 2 at Ring...

Yeah...the line around Road Atlanta is pretty well spot on. It's a good simulation.

I don't have Forza 2, as I have an "antique" origional X-Box. I think I'm going to upgrade to a PS3 so I can get the blueray player, but I don't think Forza is on the PS platform.

Learniong track line is ok, I have only tried GT4 at the store. The differnce in the Ring is that there is 600 meters between the highest point and the lowest point. There isa part of the track (Flugplatz) that the track falls out from under and then slams the car up your spine all while going down hill. It is very unnerving in the Jeep but fun in the race car.

Riding the Ring is one of my life goals.

I'm completing race school tomorrow (motorcycle race school), and the class will conclude with a "mock race" which will fulfil one of the items on my "to do" list. To race on a race track. Done plenty of track days, but never an actual race.

When I leave the school, if I fall into money, I might try a few WERA races. I'd like to get on an endurance race team to share the costs a bit.

I love to drive fast. Dont do very much anymore, too many cops around. But on one brave morning and running late I hit just a touch over 110mph and it was still pulling.

In my head I'm saying NO DEER, NO DEER, NO DEER, NO DEER, NO DEER..
