If your Liberty weighs 5500 lbs, then you need to find the slabs of cement and get them out of the door panels. I scaled my "heavier because it's a diesel" CRD one time when I was pulling a 70kw generator b/c I wanted to know how heavy the generator actually was. The CRD with a modest amount of gear (and my 200 lb fat arse) clocked in at 4500 lbs. The genset was 6840.

The only thing I can say is that whatever CRDs you tried must have had plugged sensors or something. I drove a friend's V6 Liberty, and while it had "power" for the driving around, I wasn't impressed. The engine had to wind up too much to really go anywhere, and the truck had NOTHING of the kick-in-the-arse torque of the diesel.

You stomp on the loud button in my diesel, it MOVES hard. The only time my diesels (including the VW again, just to annoy Sam) haven't been able to launch hard is when the turbo was broken / turned off by the computer. THEN, they really are gutless. But as long as that VNT is operating and allowed to spool... Hoo boy. Torque monster.

Tj, you don't own a CRD, what makes you think you can compare the performance with a gasser Liberty? Why are you always busting on them?

I don't own a Chevy truck, I personally think they are made of plastic crap, but do you see me over in a Chebby forum pissing in their cheerios? Why the constant flow of haterade at our diesels?

Jealous of the 30mpg much? :P
I've driven many CRD's,where's the power? The last one would barely pull itself on the alignment rack, and I had it floored just to make it on! My 3.7 has more power then any of the CRD's I've driven.I bought my Jeep to play on rocks, mpg's I don't care about though I can pull almost 22mpg's at 75 mph on the highway, not bad for a 5500lbs brick.

When you can pull 32 mpg at 75mph, give me a call big guy. And the curb weight for these beasts, even with the diesel, is 4300 lbs.

Geordi, one word explanation for this gent - Troll.

Yes I know what OEM stock curb weight is,mine is not stock and heavily armored bring my,scale verified, weight to 5500lbs wet.Throw 1200lbs in your CRD and see what mpg's you get at 75mph,no where close to 32mpg's(20-24 at best).

Wonderful. Unless you're 4 ft 11 and weigh less than 100 lbs, when you climb in the cab you're over the GVWR of 5600 lbs. And in that condition, you're still claiming 22mpg with a V6 gasser?

I stand by my original statement.

GVWR is nothing when you modify the suspension and upgrade to load range "D" tires. And yes the last trip(250 miles round trip) I averaged just shy of 22mpg's,23 up there and just a tad below 21 back cruising at 75mph,granted I had 200lbs of meat as cargo and more uphill on the homeward trip,I've got credit card receipts also  .That was starting at 6200',climb to 7400' and then down to 4800',the trip back was obviously the reverse. I'm expecting at least a 3-6mpg jump when I SFA and can gear correctly,I also am expecting a curb weight of 6000lbs.

You should read more of the site, many gasser's are getting up to 24,even 25mpg's on a regular basis.

Yeah, cause suspension is the only thing to think about when you're hitting the GVWR. Think wheel bearings, axle bearings, ball joints, BRAKES(!). Any one of those will have their limits exceeded eventually. But wait, you've probably armored all those too...

All ball joints been upgraded and as far as axle bearings(8.25) the Dakota/Durango use the exact same 8.25,same bearings but different length axle tubes/axles,and have higher GVWR then the KJ does.As for brakes those have been upgraded also  .
