geordi i wouldn't count your chickens before they hatch bud.

I got out bid numerous times at the last minute and even a couple of times at the last seconds!

Those weren't fun...

Believe me, I know. I've been on both sides of those snipes, and they suck if you are the one being outbid... And are great if you are the one who has the higher amount. But its risky.

MTB,

I've asked a couple of folks about running this in my '06 and the only concern they raised is that I might need to have the VIN reprogrammed. I assume that this is not the stock TCM for your CRD, so did you have to do this?

Thanks.

No I didn't. I ran it for about a year in my jeep with no CELs or DTCs. It runs just fine. LocoCRD can verify that you can switch the TCMs without changing the VIN coding. The ECU is VIN coded, not the TCM. You would be good to go with the TCM.

Great, that's what I wanted to hear! Thanks.

MTB_TDI is correct, it is plug n play. He should also be able to tell you that nobody either he or I have contacted can crack the TCM programming, and we have been trying for a year. So with that in mind, this is indeed a one of a kind, except for mine, he he.

I had LocoCRDs TCM for a while when I was trying to get the code cracked before I picked this one up. No one that I know of has been able to get the old programming back.

Does anyone know if I bought a new TCM does it need to be programed at the dealer and would they flash it to the F-37? I asked the dealer to flash mine back to the original factory program but they won't do it. If anyone knows where to get another non F-37 TCM I'd appreciate it. I have an 06 if that matters.

Thanks

You can't go backwards in the software versions. It isn't a matter of the dealer not being willing, they are physically incapable b/c they do not have access to anything BUT the most current version.

That said, IIRC all the 06 models came with the F37 code already in the TCM. The TCM itself is not 'programmed' for your vehicle, so you could swap in another one yourself if you got one. A 'new' TCM from the dealer is also highly likely to be a waste of money, b/c you won't know what software version is on it unless it happens to say it on the box. It will probably already have the newest flash (with the F37) and if you leave the parts counter with it... No refunds.

Just join the throngs of people here who are searching for an unmolested TCM. There have to be some out there.

The biggest thing tho is this: IF you are able to get a TCM that doesn't have the F37 in it... NEVER NEVER NEVER bring it ANYWHERE near a dealer! There is a strong possibility that even the act of connecting the dealer's scanner to the car to read codes might initiate an automatic update of all 'old' programs in the various computers.

Keep reading that last line over and over, if you ever question whether the dealer can help you with this.

NOT SO!! The F37 TSB didn't come out untill around the end of June 06 maybe later and that was very near the end of 06 (US) production! The copy of the instructions I have is dated December 06 and it specifies those units built on or before November 2, 2006. But those with a build date of after November 05 did come with the better of the two torque converters. So some, mine with a build date of January 27, 06, got the crippling flash but came with the better torque converter.

How can we expect newbies to catch on when bad info is spread so often :?:

Works for me, thanks for the correction. I based my answer on the 'bad info being spread' around the intarwebz.
