It is now 8 freakin weeks that the steelership has my car they installed the second high pressure pump yesterday and guess what,it still wont start. They say they are at a stand still and are waiting for a Chrysler diesel tech to come and look at it. I asked to have it sent to another steelership but they refused. I contacted a lawyer yesterday and he is taking my case and feels like I will get some satisfaction.

Bring in a cup from a golf green, see if the Service Manager goes into the can and grabs some TP and folds it up, I bet he will wipe out the cup.
If you have to have a dealer do the work due to an extended warranty, look for one who sells lots of wholesale parts to the body shops and independents, that way you will get a dealer who is in the top 25% of Quality Service. Lots and lots of Sales people and no independents or independent body shop customers = VERY BAD DEALER!!!!!!!!

I saw a good Jeep dealer in Rahway, NJ with lots of Jeeps that were not new coming into the service department for work, also I saw a van loaded with parts taking off for deliveries, maybe he is a good Dealer.

I used to be a Factory Rep and an Independent Repair Shop Owner.

You went about it the wrong way. First find a dealer willing to work on it, filling them in on what has happened. Next, tell the current dealer to open the bay door so the tow truck can get your libby. It is your car you can take it where ever you want, provided they will work on it.

You got that right.

By the way they had that engine apart, it probably won't never run again or won't run for long after you get it back. At this point I would demand a new engine installed by a experienced diesel tech. When I was young I did OJT at several dealerships working on expensive Lincoln and Corvettes. I wasn't fired even though I mess a few things up. :goink:

I still think someone needs start chasing electrons.

We all feel your pain.

Don't blame the CRD, blame the mechanics.

If you can be patient enough, they'll have to fix it b/o warrenty.

Hang in there and keep us posted.

I had mine get loud and loose power but it was one of the intercooler (CAC) hoses. Was it still drivable but with much less power or did it die on you right after you lost power? I'm betting the dealer did something to it or maybe it's just a coincidence and maybe now their is air in the Fuel/Water separator and the thing needs burped.

I lost power and it still started and ran with no power. A metalic rattle was coming from the turbo also.

Deezo - That is a dead giveaway that you had a bad turbo. Were you leaking oil into the exhaust? Are you SURE that you weren't? If you drove it for even the shortest distance with an oil leak from the turbo, you are risking the same fate that happened to me - LOSING THE ENGINE because the #1 piston will be starved for lubrication VERY quickly. It is directly connected to the turbo's oil line.

The head was off the engine I would imagine that if #1 piston had damage they would have noticed. Now they think it wont start because of bad injectors so they are pulling them and sending them to a lab in Penn. to see what may have damaged them.If it was water damage then my guess is they wont be responsible because contaminated fuel is not covered under warranty..

You owe it to yourself to have them get you a fuel sample and send it to a lab :SOMBRERO:
