Think where we might be now if we started algee based bio fuels then...... we would not be importing like we do now and I'm sure we could thumb our noses at those radicals that hate us but need us to buy their oil.
To which radicals do you refer: Canadians? Mexicans? Saudis? Nigerians? These are the top 4 countries that supply the USA with oil.
http://www.eia.doe.gov/pub/oil_gas/petr ... mport.htmlI do agree with your assessment of Carter. I have a framed letter from him thanking me for an energy conservation initiative. I can't think of any other president who would have taken the trouble.
Well here is the thing I find funny. while we get no or nearly no oil from the countries that we are fighting in because there is war there all the world wide prices are going up for fear that there will be a supply issue. Other parts of the world are also developing faster now and demanding more oil too.
I don't have any beef with canada or mexico, Nigeria not sure about them and Saudi..... well lets not forget that most of the pilots in the 9/11/2001 attack were Saudis. I'm not saying all Saudis or Muslims are bad or on some Jahad but it seems to me as a group there are some muslims we can trust and some we surely can't.
What I want to say is that we are Americans...... We have been known to be smart and clever. We have stuck togther and solved some big problems in the past. Why can't we come up with a longterm plan to be much much more energy indpendant than we are now? Sweden plans to be free of oil by 2020. We should take some notes from them. We may not be able to be free from oil but surely if we had more domestic energy supply and green sources too it would be better for our economy and our air, soil and waters.
