glaspak845 the 2006 CRD sometimes has a chaffed main wiring harness where it goes along the firewall in the engine compartment behind the fuel head. Something about a routing and a sharp corner that is different from the 2005 model. Check there first per catcrd

After pulling the covers off the wiring harness on top the engine and mounted on the firewall and inspecting the ends for chaffing or cracking (previously I checked both ends for cracking or chaffing but didn't totally disassemble) I didn't see anything, no sharp bends, etc. However, when I retaped everything and reinstalled both harnesses and covers connected the battery and started it, the chimes, ESP, ABS and BAS lights no longer chime and flash in unison. The CEL however, did not go off. I was going to drive it for a few days and see how it goes, if it doesn't go off after more engine cycles I'm gonna head to the dealer and have it diagnosed and reset.

For now, my plan with the wiring is when the weather improves here in PA i'm going to pull the harnesses apart again and reinspect again for cracks or chaffing and either fix what I find or if I don't find anything I'm going to retape everything real tight to eliminate any movement and shifting wires.

Thanks to both CATCRD and papaindigo for the help, it is much appreciated.
