What kind of mileage does it get?

Dave

I have put a few thousand miles on a few of these trucks for work (testing) and they did not impress me! and I own a 7.3L F250, while my old 2000 F250 isn't up to par with the new diesels I would take it over the new EcoBoost. Don't get me wrong they are nice trucks but from some of the people I have talked to who have done some calculations the new 5L F150 can get similar mileage with let sticker cost!

I am on a F150 forum and the Ecoboost consistently reports better MPG than the 5.0. That being said, all the Ford engines this year including the 300+ HP V6, 360 HP 5.0, 3.5L Ecoboost and the 6.2L are all goods choices for the F150s.

There is an issue with build dates/fluttering rpms...that seems to affect mileage tho. Some have a fluttering rpm issue and can not get the 20+ highway mileage...while the later build dates are easily getting the better MPG. I also use premium and add Amsoil Pi to keep the direct injection clean as a whistle. Seems that the 10% ehtanol in the regular and midgrade fuels really puts a hit on MPG. The price diff between reg and premium (and adding the Amsoil) still is worth it with the mileage I am getting.

Cool, now we have a thread about a non-diesel Ford in the CRD section.

I think I have been here long enough (since day 1 of L.O.S.T.) to bend the unstated rule once... :JEEPIN:

Friend of mine just bought a 2011 F150 EB and I am telling my dad to trade the Ram 1500 Sport on a EB 150 as well. FOrd is going to EB across the entire vehicle line. As for GDI, I beleive Mitsubishi has been useing GDI since 1998 or so. I think the Galant debuted with it. Teh next EB from Ford will be the 2.0L adn I think the 1.0L EB will make it over as well. Look for second Gen EB to start arriving in 2014.

I still think a 4bt could be tuned to match hp/tq (or better) of this engine, meet emissions, get 20% better mileage and last 400K. If you took emission out of it (arbitrary and subjective science that it is) then it's no contest. And you'd have a proven power plant.
