You have a 20.5 gallon tank, your claiming just over 55mpg's.

actually on his first post he did not make a claim - he posted a picture
everything else is an assumption.

and if Joe really wants 57mpg - hr can drive the TDI - and that's not even a stretch.

Of course I wouldnt claim that. Read the sentence with context. I was asked how Im getting that kind of mileage. 57 MPH at 1700 RPM.... Not 57 MPG......

324 miles on 1/4 tank.

Come on TJ, youre smarter than that. You know very well the accuracy of the gauge isnt correct to each quarter. If you fill the tank to the very top of the filler it will take longer to leave the full mark. That said, when everything is said and done and your tank is empty you do get an accurate MPG reading if you refill the same amount of fuel you put in and divide the miles on the trip meter. Mine is accurate as Ive tested against mileage markers on the side of the road.

Actually I have filled my tank from that level many times and it regularly takes 8-10 gallons of fuel. If it was 8 gallons it would be 40.5 mpg. Driving the highway without stopping at 57 mph without the a/c on, mirrors in, it is possible. The fuel guages on liberties are very inaccurate.

It is possible to overfill the Jeeps tank. That could have happened also. I once filled my diesel tank so slowly it overflowed from somewhere on the tank, not the fill neck. It was a veg oil experiment gone wrong and I pushed extra fuel into the diesel tank.

I believe it. My my tune on my wife's 3.0 CRD, her mileage monitor which reads 1.5 mpg low, shows 29mpg at 55 mph.

Nice! And that's absolutely possible, despite the naysayers... I once got just a smidge under 36mpg by doing 60mph on cruise with no AC on the interstate with one stop the whole tank. Not exactly fun mind you, but possible. :JEEPIN:

I would have to be chained and restrained in order to stay within that limit.

x2

FYI - Joe - if the Temp gauge is in your normal operating position - your thermostat is dead - you're running cold - you might get .1 or .2 more with a good thermostat.

What the hell is the point of doing all that? Seems kind of silly just to get a few mpgs. I hope for everyones sake you're in the far right lane.

Consistent 33mpg at 62 mph (1800rpm) with or without AC in generally flat terrain to/from N. Florida and Baltimore on 2 lane US hwy and interstate. Yes I know in lots of places the left lane actual speed is speed limit + 15 or so but I do enjoy passing all those folks interacting with the flashing blue lights where speed limits are "somewhat" enforced.
