That's some skill welding the material!

I too would like to see the picture, and how DID you gut the OEM stat?

Pics and a price.

I have an inline stat on the way, so if the price is right I could ship you that and my old housing.

On a side note did the 3" exhaust make a difference?

I thought about doing a 3" downpipe into my current 2-1/2" exhaust.

How loud is it with it being straight thru?

Could you post a video?

I know I know I'm asking a lot LOL :5SHOTS:

I read through the posts on the inline therms. It is not clear (at least to this guy) if we disconnect the wires and attach them to the in line thermostat. It would be the easiest thing to do....I am suspicious of easy when it come to my libby!

thanks,
Jim

No wires involved... you just cut the radiator hose width wise, about two inches from where it connects to OEM stat, then cut off another appx two inches of hose (which you can toss) than clamp the inline stat where that two inches of discarded hose went, and install hose back to OEM stat.

I can take real measurements if needed, but I did not take enough pictures when I did mine to do a real write up.

$55 was the price on Amazon last I looked but I bet it's gone up since the supplier only has 1 left. Google "Meziere WN0072 Inline Thermostat Housing" and you will find it available for $59-69 plus shipping.

Jegs has it for $69.95....The photo makes it look all too simple...just a couple of o-rings.

That Jegs link has been highjacked. Try this http://www.jegs.com/i/Meziere/680/WN007 ... /-1?CT=999

Yes you will also need 2 hose clamps and 1 195 degree Chevy tstat. Be sure to drill a 3/32 -1/8" hole in the tstat skirt to allow enough water circulation past the tstat to warm it up and get it to open without a temperature spike.

To gut the factory thermostat i cut the housing below the outlet area and pulled the old thermostat out. Simple to do. Then re-weld outlet section back to housing. The next step is to weld the new outlet housing(I used Meziere 062) , to factory housing. Welded it to the housing to eliminated rubber adaptor between factory housing and new thermostat. One less point to worry about leakage.

As for 3 inch straight exhaust, I was suprised how quiet it is. My wife did not notice a difference. Only loud on 3/4 plus throttle application.
Of couse it depends how sensetive you are to noise but I found the volume extremely livable.

And finally, I will post photos of my thermostat housing asap. Hopefully next week.

Just ordered my inline housing from Jegs. The Meziere WN0072 - Meziere Inline Thermostat Housings does not include the therostat...it is just the housing. I ordered a 195 degree thermo part number xxx-xxxxx. It will fit this particular housing....

JIm

Edited on 11/1/11....just received my housing and thermostat....wrong one. They sent me a Chevy Dodge 195...this housing needs a Chrysler Thermostat...I will add the correct number when the new thermostat arrives.

edited 11/2/11: My invoice came in my email..they are sending out part #555-53202 THERMOSTAT-195-GM,FRD,AMC. the Jiggs fellow called the housing manufacturer to be sure he had the correct therm.

If you remove the original thermostat, you remove the ability to close the bypass port off. This will be an issue in the summer if you are towing or climbing hills.

The original failing thermostats get soft in the spring and begin to over-cool the engine but the bypass port still gets blocked off.
