Nope most folks who bought just did so directly which is ok as doing that is still cheaper than the OEM 5v plugs plus the required ECU reflash to handle 5v plugs. I've got 4 in hand from an indirect source but may order 4 more for stoutdog while he is home.

I was thinking it would be a good thing to have Keith to replace when he does my timing belt change....Where do I buy them cheapest? I have 2 or 3 weeks before we do the work....HJ

I bought a set of four Etecno 7v Part # GX3123 from

dieselglowplug.com

the cost was $178 delivered. took about 10 days for delivery.

you will need gasket (#5066946AA) for the inlet tube to manifold PITA to get off and on, I replaced the glug plug relay (#58044571AA) at the same time, both of these were $48 delivered, I think. from moparonlineparts.

I am not positive for the part #s for the gasket and relay, can't find the reciept please check.

That's the correct # for the gasket which FYI is like a $5-10 part so getting it at a dealer will cost the same or less than online once you figure in shipping. The Etecno 7v glow plugs are a drop in replacement for the OEM 7v ceramic glow plugs so there is no need for an ECU flash or a new glow plug module/relay.

Is this still the only option to the stock OEM 7v ceramic glow plugs?

As far as I know the 2 choices are the Etecno1 drop in 7v metal or the DCJ 5v ones (kit of 4 plugs and new controller cost ca, $130 depending on where you shop online) which also require an ECU reflash ($100 at dealer or if you have GDE tune $50 by GDE). Net cost is about the same unless you need the dealer reflash in which case the DCJ set costs ca. $50 more not counting labor.

There is a thread about an unhappy Etecno customer. I am in the process of putting in 5V plugs, (See my thread about by CRD saga). I had the privilege of meeting Corey from IDparts, who has the 5V in his CRD. From what he explained, after the install and flash, his light stays on solid for a bit, and it starts right up. But, as I said, I won't have a first hand account until my CRD is all back together.

I wonder what the difference is between the DCJ and GDE firmware changes to support the 5V GPs. I'm sure the GDE solution is as good or better than what DCJ could come up with :juggle: and at half the price but I wonder what the pros and cons of both are?
