Thanks for posting the video, so sorry to make you go through this so early in the day, but thankful that you did .....now for what it's worth It is a little bit longer crank than on standard ceramic glow plugs. On the other hand on most night the temp doesn't dip past 0 and that too for a short duration of days/nights, i think this would be a good application in our area, as opposed to getting the 5V kit and have dealer program it and charge an arm and leg for it.
Now did you install these by yourself or someone installed them for you .....just need to find someone to do the job for me as i am not sure i can find all 4 plugs and do the swap....i mean if i could see and find these then it is pretty much unbolt and bolt on.
Thanks for all the trouble.

Same here in Croatia. Temp -1 Celsius and 70cm of snow. Like I am in Canada. Last 150 years there was no so much snow here. And mine also cranked over 5-6 times before it started. When temp is over 2-3 C it started on 1st-2nd crank.

I think it's good to wait a 10-15 seconds after the disappearance of glow plug light and then start to crank

Would also like to say thank you for the update. The video was great like Skytrucker i would have to agree and say crank time was a little longer than mine with factory ceramics. Im just under 120K and will be looking to replace GPs pretty soon.

Yes Doctor, I watched a guy start his CRD on a cold winter morning. I was concerned about his JK's health.
"I see."
Is there a cure, Doctor?
"No."

Great post Squeeto, but I won't mention it to my spouse. She may have me committed.

This morning I had to scrape the frost off the windows.
It was 0°C.

In my last video, the truck takes about 7 cranks to start but this morning it started in about 2.

Maybe 2 reasons why:
We mostly get a damp cold here but this morning was a dry cold.
And, the ignition was cycled this time, ON - OFF - wait 5 secs - START.

Oops.
I had to fix a leak on the WIF sensor and just realized that the fuel heater was unplugged (ask, if you don't know why) throughout the winter!
So I made it just that much more difficult for the new plugs to perform.

Plugs work great for me.

IMHO, I don't think the fuel heater does much for cold starting. I believe its meant to prevent diesel fuel from waxing up and plugging the fuel filter when driving in cold temps. Think about it, even if the little "thermistor" heater could heat up the fuel in the filter in 10 seconds, you would need "warm" fuel beyond the filter housing and into the fuel pump, rail, and all the way to the injectors.

By the way, have you updated your filter head to the new style yet?

Absolutely, 'cause it is 9 Celsius today :goink: . Winter is over. :jester:

Probably true.

No. I will wait for the old one to break. The in-tank lift pump keeps the air out nicely. No air, no contact melt.

Well hell! Sometimes mine takes that many cranks on a 60 F morning... Great video BTW! I ordered a set of the Etecno1's about a week ago. Just to get the ceramics out.
