Joe, Zerex G5 is now clear was red or orange in the past.

I bought a few replacement gallons when I was experiencing loss of coolant during my head gasket problem last year and the color in the gallon containers went from red/orange to clear. I don't know why Valvoline changed the color but it did change.

I've only used Zerex GO5 and it's always been yellow'ish/orange'ish color right out of the bottle.

I just got off the phone with Valvoline and the tech said that the formulation of their G-05 remains the same and has not changed throughout the years, an orange dye had been added for specific manufacturers in the past but the actual color of the Zerex G-05 is clear to light yellow.

The tech also mentioned that the use of distilled water is strongly recommended instead of tap water because some tap water contains iron that will accelerate the corrosion of cast iron blocks.

I now have the task of flushing out my system again and to use distilled water.

what I have put in mine was a pale golden yellow once it was mixed 50/50 with clean distilled water. I bought the G-05 concentrate from NAPA.
