No question that would shut down a CRD - That fuse controls just about everything!
PDC - Power Distribution Center, that is the fuse and relay panel inside the CRD, obviously it doesn't control all those fuses, but it must be the prime power lead for a relay that does.
Engine computer, Trans computer - Yea... Without these, you don't even get the HINT of a start, b/c the computer has to authorize the starter relay to engage in the first place.
As for why it blew - With so many other circuits behind that fuse, it could be impossible to trace which one had an increase in resistance. Many of the circuits are oversized for their job anyway, so I wouldn't worry about it. It could also EASILY be simple dielectric corrosion in the terminals, which you broke by agitation - Removing and replacing the fuse. Corrosion builds up and pushes the terminals apart, slowly increasing the amp loading across the fuse... Until it reaches the rating, or maybe it never does pop the fuse.
