Have not heard from any Crown installed water pump people? I know Crown has had issues.

I just reread the thread. Who had over 200k? Highest I saw was 148K...

I know one Crown pump (on a friends CRD) which failed in only a few thousand miles. It started leaking, but the timing did not jump. He lucked out on that one. It was replaced with a VM Mopar pump. I am not thrilled with the Crown parts, besides, I was trying to get them as a supplier for certain things, but they would not call back. Glad that worked out that way I suppose!

I notice that ID parts no longer lists the Crown water pump on their site.

I am not so sure that Crown even sells these pumps any longer due to the massive troubles.

im at 152000 mile on my pump. I did the timing at 137000 last 12-15-2012 and the pump were out of stock at the time. Planning sooner or later having to go back in to replace. But so far so good. Planning at 237000 replacing everything again. But if it comes sooner so be it. Thank God money not that big of deal.

Cardone offers a reman pump. Google search cardone 58-656. Looks to be just the front half. If the quality is good, this might be another option.

A while back IDParts was talking to Crown about the water pump bearing problems and there was some suggestion Crown was working on a fix which may or may not be why Crown water pumps are apparently off the market at least for now.

As for that Cardone 58-656 reman it does look like just the front 1/2 where the moving parts are and I was aware of it but I have not seen it available anywhere for quite sometime. Even the Cardone site says call for availability.

I ordered one of the Cardone reman units from Summit just to see. Ten dollar core charge is likely too low. Probably starved for cores. I will post results when I get them.

I've never had a water pump failure on my CRD, although I have on other vehicles.

I've replaced mine twice: the first time at 100,000 miles with timing belt per recommendations here, the second time along with timing belt and tensioners at 150,000 miles but only because we were replacing a cracked head and blown head gasket, so figured might as well put in new while in there.

Did not examine the first pump. The second one looks new and is being saved "in the event of" other bad juju.

Both were OEM replacements from Mopar.

1. Any more high miles water pumps out there?
2. Any failed water pumps cause anything more than a leak?

110k on your water pump. Nice, thanks for the reply. Mine is at 100k and going to change it at my 2nd belt change unless it starts to leak. It dose look like this is one of the better parts on these engines.

FYI... Flash7210 i purchaced my CRD Jeep Certified Oct 2008 with 39k for $10,000 flat! Yes.. I and drove like hell from that Ohio dealer.

Yes, I have 116K on mine and doing the timing belt next month after getting the parts and pump. Is the Cardone a good unit?

I had just over 110,000 miles on my water pump when it was replaced during the timing belt service. Just the front half was replaced. The pump looked solid with no signs of any impending issues.

Getting ready to do the Timing belt fiasco on my '05 Libby. Will be doing the water pump at he same time. Currently I have 110,000 on the little Libby.

Just changed my '02 Cummins water pump last Dec. 202,000 on that one.

At 110k i would change that TB ASAP. Wonder why your changing the water pump so soon on the CRD and did not change on your Cummins untill over 200K?

The reason i made this post was to find out if not changing my water pump @ 94k when i changed my timing belt was a good choice or not.

There has been several people state they had a pump leak, but NONE caused a timing issue.

I beleve changing the water pump at the second belt change is a better choice for me.
