I had not heard that but could be true only Keith knows for sure I assume. I went with the 7vs but have yet to install them, maybe next week.

To bad your down in the warm weather. I would like to here from people using them up here below 20 degrees F

If you switch the key on and off 3 or 4 times they work fine at 10 degrees F. They seem to stay on longer than the ceramics did on the first go. I turn the key on the first time, give a 2 count, turn the key off then immediately back on for a two count, and repeat another time or two. Starts right up, not much smoke. What I would like to see is GDE developing a tune for the GPs that adds just a leetle more on time to the GPs....

LMWatBullRun;
By the sound of it the new 7v steel do not heat up like the old 7v ceramics? Did you have to cycle a few times when you had the creamics?
I dont cycle and it starts great with the original ones at 103k hate to change them.

Relay has the same Bosch number..... Hmmmmm

What is the part number of this relay you are refering to?
I do not see an relevant "relay" in the circuit diagrams...only the Glow Plug Controller. :?

Billwill, you may have hit on something. Is it a controller or a relay?

ChooChooman, I was wondering the same thing... others have mentioned that the part numbers of the old and new (relay/controller) are the same. Hence the reason for my post.

What are the part number of the old and new? I don't believe that Chrysler would revise a part without an update to the part number.

Looking at the circuit diagram for the 2006 CRD I see a "module glow plug" which gets +12 volts direct from the battery at the starter motor, gets a signal from the ASD relay, gets inputs from the ECU and a ground all via connector C114 on the glow plug module.

Then there are four outputs...one to each glow plug via connector C113.

I see no "relays" involved.

The early Export CRDs such as I have do not have a "module glow plug"....it has two big fat relays which supply +12 volts directly to the glow plugs...the ECU times the length of the relay ON time and does no error checking on the glow plugs.
The glow plugs are 11 volts....they expect that 1 volt will get dropped over the relay contacts and connector contacts.

The parts fiche for the 2006 CRD shows the "module glow plug" as PN: 56044671AA.....this is probably the old number for 7 volt glow plugs. :?
