chafed? What do you mean?

Insulation rubbed of leaving bare wires exposed usually. Maybe a switch got turned on by mistake.

2006 CRD's have a problem with the wiring harnesses rubbing and exposing wires right behind the fuel head.

Detach the fuel head assembly ( 2 bolts) and inspect the wiring harness right behind the fuel head, for cuts, abrasions and exposed wires at that spot.

Where are you located?

Chafed would be rubbed raw. Go run 5 miles in cloth shorts and 100 degree heat. That's chaFED

Well, I have to admit my vocabulary is not so vast.
What I am observing now is that the 3 interior lights turn off after a few minutes when my Libby is turned off but they keep on the whole time I am driving. What could this be? If it is a cable problem, the lights will stay on all the time but they do turn off once I turn off my Liberty after a few long minutes.

I just ran a DTC and I had a pending code U1421. I cleared the codes, ran another DTC and no pending codes showed up.
