The M1-301 does fit the 2005-2007 KJ CRD, as well as the never XJs.

While it does fit the reason it does not show up on parts matches is that it is not the original spec, and is in fact very different dimensions.

I'm not sure what vehicle the m1-301, or fram ph8a was originally intended for, but anything that is speced for the vehicle will work on our 05-07 CRDs.

Yep, been a problem for all vehicles for decades. Parts books won't, for obvious, liability reasons, list a part as usable for vehicle XX unless it's OEM spec or equivalent. For example some battery places refuse to fit a regular Group 34 battery with sufficient CCA to the CRD because OEM was Group 34R (terminals reversed) or even go so far as to say the only battery that can be used is the original Red Top. Not a problem if you know the part # and just ask for that without tell the seller what vehicle it's for but infuriating on web sites like O'Reilly's where you cannot even look up a part without first specifying a vehicle.

On oil filters one needs to look at the inner/outer gasket dimensions (to make sure they seat ok); the thread size/pitch (to make sure it spins on); the pressure relief valve operating pressure (should be close to OEM spec); quality of the filter; and capacity (OEM spec or more). If the gasket dimensions, pressure relief, quality, and capacity work then the filter is ok regardless of "book". I was using larger oil filters by these criteria as far back as the 1960's and never had a problem.

Unfortunately this does not help when having to lookup by a specific vehicle and engine, unless you want the trial and error.

How about, any Ford full size pickup truck from 1970-1996, with a 302, 351, 429, or 460 engine.

There are other models and engines that use that filter but anything in that range will work.
