Neither one of you is understanding the first point in which fuel waxing occurs, inside the filter element. The fuel heater stops this from happening and allows fuel to flow freely to the pump. The fuel will not wax in the line from the filter to the injection pump. But hey, what do I know, I just live in Alaska and deal with cold most of the year.

So that's the FIRST place, huh? Not that big non-insulated and non-heated reservoir of wax and jelly sitting between the rear wheels?

Yeah... Your "explanation" doesn't pass the scientific smell test. If it is cold enough to gel in the filter, it is more than cold enough to do it in the tank too. The tank also isn't sitting next to an engine that might provide several hours of warmth passively to the filter, while the cold wind passing under the tank is continuously cooling off the fuel in it from the moment you park the car.

Either your fuel is winterized or it isn't. That 40 watt heater WILL NOT HELP YOU if your fuel isn't winterized. BUT that little safety hazard HAS CAUSED ENGINE FIRES and even the second generation design has shown the potential to crack and leak just the same as the first generation did. For the safety of your vehicle, unplug it. It won't stop a problem, but it COULD cause one.
