Well here's to wishing me the best of luck at dealer and reprogramming. They will be taking it on Monday and I will update with what happens! Hopefully Monday I'll have a running CARD, then the real fun begins!

Here's to hoping all is good and it runs.
However,
If the dealer tells you it's shot, no good, they can't work with it, Make SURE to get it back. Both the vehicle, and and the ECM.
Because if they do, I would put strong money on the probability that they don't have anyone there with the expertise to do the job, AND that GDE can save it if they didn't fry it.

Ok thank you for your information and that is probably what I will end up doing if it doesn't work. For $120+ a tow, it's worth a shot vs the 700$ + shipping (CAD) and waiting 2-3 weeks haha.

That may be true, but then again you're comparing the price of a basic functioning de-tuned stock flash to the price of a completely balanced, "Ultimately-better-in-every-way" GDE tune, which may not be apples-to-oranges, but, more like, mushy, tasteless winter apples-to-nice, crispy, sweet kings apples or even Fuji or Honeycrisp!.

(sorry, hope you're not colorblind)

I dont presume to speak for GDE but they definitely can change the Vin in the ECU to the VIN number of the jeep without doing their tune and I highly suspect it would only cost about $50 US plus shipping. Here in states with priority mail about 4 business days turnaround they usually alter tune and get it back out same day or next day. I am sure the turnaround time shipping would be more much longer to canada. Then you would hopefully not have to do anything to keys but as you said you r a locksmith and can handle that. I just didn't want you to think you would have to spend $700 for tune to get VIN changed by them.

If the ASD fuse was blown there was no activation for the injectors to inject fuel and probably other thing that would prevent engine from running. Unplugging the ASD fuse is what you do so engine won't run to check for head gasket leak with glow plugs out so no fuel is injected.

No matter what, looks like you got a great deal and for you dealer may be better especially since you could easily load it on car hauler or dolly to tow now that it will run for few seconds at a time and tow it yourself if you have a hitch.

Good Luck and welcome!

THIS IS IMPORTANT !!!

JUST THOUGHT OF IT

The ECU you want to program MUST also be from a 2005 CRD not a 2006 !!!!! A 2006 ECU will operate the vehicle for just a few seconds just like a key that fits ignition but won't run but a few seconds.

The ECU part number is as follows:

2005 56044562xx
2006 56044776xx

Even the dealer cannot program a 2006 ECU to work on your 2005 CRD.
If you don't have the 2005 ECU I may be able to help you get one with or without a GDE tune.

As a side note the key to be programmed must be the transponder remote capable type key like comes originally with the CRD IIRC . But you can get a non remote type key that will open door and will start but only run the jeep a few seconds. I use the key that will only open door as a spare key hidden outside on jeep in case I lock keys in jeep to be able to open door and get ones that will operate the jeep that way even if someone found the extra key they wouldn't be able to drive it away.

There is also another computer looking thing on the passenger side behind the air box. Which computer is that? TCM?

The SKIM module behind the steering column can not be re-programmed to different keys....a brand new virgin SKIM module from the Dealer can be programmed but you cannot for instance pick one up on from a breaker yard and program it. You can get a used SKIM module with its original keys and its original ECM and that will work....then get VIN etc. programmed into ECM.

If the Red LED on left of cluster is flashing then ECM has not received correct code from SKIM module..engine should fire and run for a few seconds then cut out. If the Red LED is on solid...engine should turn over but not fire. Removing the ASD Relay and jumpering female pins 30 to 87 will get it to run assuming all fuses are OK...this points to a bad fuse, ASD Relay or wiring problem. :?

Awesome news today. Took Jeep to dealer they programmed computer, works perfect!! Original keys and all. $112cad out the door. Just at exhiqst shop now getting the rotten muffler cut out and replaced with a straight pipe. Has engine light on which is expected as the EGR has been deleted and not tuned yet. Although there is a exclamation mark just above it, what is that light for? Will be doing orm and diy tuning once my order from eBay comes in!

Driving this thing around sure is fun. I've noticed it seems like it lacking a little power though. I'll check some of the hoses to make sure no cracks or leaks. Any tips for finding them? Also, when idling the Jeep likes to put out some blueish smoke, soon as you hit the throttle and start driving it doesn't smoke at all, only when idling. Any tips on what that may be?

Blue smoke is typically burning oil.
Most typically, this could be from oil from the crankcase vent or a worn out turbo.

Just pull the intake off and found oil laying in the turbo. During the process the intake boot ripped apart so I won't be driving it till I get a new one haha. Fired it up after disconnecting the old catch can and just dropping pipe to ground. No more smoke. Will have e to wait to drive to confirm. Will also clean maf sensor tomorrow and hope it will help with the power situation. Then just waiting for my device to tune it and all should be good!

Also clean the MAP sensor...on top of intake manifold...NOOB guide shows its position.

Be very delicate with it...best to spray with Brake Cleaner.

Stick your finger into the turbo inlet and try to wiggle the shaft.
There should be almost zero movement.

I did do that last night it wiggles a little but not much... Not sure what normal is supposed to feel like so it's hard to tell if worn. Turbo spools up nice and sounds great if that's any consolation. Has tons of power till about 3k then it just falls on its face. Not that I plan on driving past 3k but was just curious.
