whats involved in doing the off road mod???
Simply unplugging the MAF (on the airbox) is what is called the "ORM".

and when the CEL is on due to the ORM, you wont notice other CEL events... and that could be really bad.

"QUOTE"
So, I got some good picks that I'll post soon, but I wanted to wait till I did the final mounting of the box inside the cab. Anyone have a good close-up of mounting in the kick-panel area that doesn't require cutting of the plastic trim piece?

Dan

"QUOTE"

no picture yet, but if you look at the panel under the wheel, it pops open like a big glove box, revealing a big space and some brackets, I double stick taped my project box under the column brace, allowing for a lot of airspace for heat dissipation, barely warm by the way.

"QUOTE"
No. Not if they are not looking, which is a good assumption. This modification is not for the extremely paranoid.
"QUOTE"

I used to be paranoid of soot and pre-burnt gasses fouling and ruining my super tech Italian turbo tractor motor, and shooting my MPG number in the bum. no more.

I am correct in my understanding that in order to return to the "factory circuit operation" after installing the SEGR, all you need is to insert the bypass plug?.

I have just finished installing the segr box and need to ask? My electric
fan in front of the radiator runs all the time and I am getting EGR flow insuffivient code?
Did I do wrong somewhere? Just took it around the block a few times
and not sure what to do next. Maybe I tied into a wrong wire?

So, is that two different problems or just some anecdotal information about the fan? If it runs all the time, then something might have gotten shorted in the harness. Did you happen to take pictures of where all the splices were. I know mine were vastly different than the manual stated color-wise and I nearlt tapped the wrong wires twice.

I stuck a pin in the wires and another pin in the connector and checked continunity
for all the wires to make sure they were the right ones.

That does not verify proper wire splicing though, as al the jumper plug does is close up the three open wires, whichever ones were cut. It sounds like you may have cut a wrong wire somewhere.

Thanks UFO
But I stuck a pen in the connector and than found the wire, stuck a pen
in that wire and checked for conntineuity between the two. Before I soldered the wire
I twisted them together and checked continuity from the wire and back to
the segr connectior pin that corresponds to that hookup?
It looks like I am going to have to take it all apart and start over again, Ugh.

You might also make sure you didn't swap ends on one of the three pairs. You could be driving the MAF sensor instead of the ECM MAF input...

Will check all that as well. It is just strange to turn the key on and the electric fan
starts up. The wire colors are hard to see, had wifey help me find the colors.
And probably should have seperated the couplers, instead of doing it
as I did.
Heck, I don't even think of myself as a mechanic or enginneer.

keep it. That is why I am even attemping this MOD.

Long term effects are cleaner engine oil, clenaer intake manifold, better mileage and longer engine life. And lower emissions, save NOx. Even the ORM will not necessarily keep the AFC completely open, so the SEGR really does the job as good as it can be done.

I ordered most of my parts from DigiKey, but the Tyco Plugs were on Back Order until the middle of February. I used Google a few times and found that Allied Electronics has the Tyco plugs in stock. I had to order the #17 size instead of the #13 size to be able to get the Strain Relief, but as long as I can bolt it to the project box, I don't see a problem. I plan to mount my big resistor on the outside of the project box with a heat sink to hold it in place. With all of the junk computer stuff my Son left me with, I should be able to fabricate the heat sink. I will post pictures when I get it together.

Steve :D

Yippeee

I found the problem. Had tied into Drkblu/Lgn which is the lo speed fan.
That wire lgn is exactly the same wire as drk/grn. Stripe is same color
so beware any newbies to try the Mod. Remove the coupler tops and
that way you can actually see the wires,
or you may have the same problem as I have had. Trust me once is
enough but 2 times in 2 days to pull all apart is pia.

My little amber friend CEL light is gone.

The Tyco Plugs I ordered from Allied Electronics are the same size as the ones shown in the photos of kits assembled.
Part numbers:

1) Strain Relief CPC, Size 17
Allied STK #512-7215

2) Connector CPC Receptacle Wire 17
Allied STK #512-8872

3) Connector CPC 9 Plug Wire 17
Allied STK# 512-8873

Hello .I am new to this forum.I am very interested in learning where to obtain the kits that will disable the EGR(for off road use). I have two 05 liberty crd's-love the vehicles but hate the egr headaches.
I installed the Pro-Vents at 6000 miles after the first egr was changed on both vehicles. The air intake circuit is dry no oil but that does not stop the egr carbon hangups as most of you are well aware of.At 55,000 the valve started to hang up intermittently.Disassembled and cleaned both components and cleaned the boost sensor, but this will happen again.
Are there any cold start issues with this mod? I live in northern WI and have had no issues at all with coldstarting or running to this point

I have read several post on this site and it looks like you guys are on top the major issues of the CRD. I wish I had been directed to your site long ago.
Interested in your help.
