Sensor #1 discussed was the MAP, which plugs into the intake manifold on the driver's-side rear of the engine.
Sensor #2 discussed was the Intake Air Pressure (Mercedes logo, right-front of the airbox) sensor based on the advice of MrMopar64 - a poster I think we all can agree is very knowledgeable about the CRD - which reminded me of some other posters experiencing similar symptoms whose fix turned out to be the Intake Air Pressure sensor. I picked up that thought and ran away with it, to the detriment of this posts' cohesiveness.
Sensor #3, the Mass Air Flow sensor (with red tab, on intake tube leading from airbox to turbo).
Look at this post of mine for the part number, the Mercedes Logo sensor was $62 at a Mopar stealership.
viewtopic.php?p=558596#p558596The Mercedes Logo sensor is ALSO a MAP sensor, it just happens to be getting used to measure the ambient air pressure. I tried cleaning mine with contact spray - No change. It has a TINY hole in the end of it, and wasn't gunked up at all with oil, so I have to conclude that the sensor just failed out.
My CRD is still behaving badly (not smoking much anymore, but STILL a power loss at low speeds on acceleration, usually when I NEED that power for pulling into traffic) BUT it is recovering a lot faster now. I suspect that the MAF sensor is part of the problem, I have not yet unplugged it or replaced it.
I'm going out for an errand later this morning, I *will* remember to unhook that thing and post my results later today.
