Another thing to consider. There was a change in how the vehicle internal messages are broadcast between 05 and 06. The result is that if the wrong years software is in a vehicle, ambient temperature is always -40. The result of that is that the variable displacement pump is always trying to push max pressure (it thinks it's real cold outside).

Some out there will think this is a benefit, but it can cause problems. I heard of it because it did cause a problem.

Anyone considering this SunCoast offer should contact SunCoast to verify which model year base code is being used, 05 or 06. At least they will know if they have 100% compatibility.

Has anyone put an '05 TCM into a '06 and had a real problem?

Dave from BGChrysler is the TCM guru who is a retired Chrysler Engineer check out the web site to see all of the TCM tunes they have for other Chrysler products. If anyone should know, it would be Dave. It is good sound practice to let SunCoast know (or anyone else know) when you order a tune so that it will be right. Another item to put your mind at rest is the TCM has a number on it so that if you bump your head and forget the year of your CRD, it will be caught.
Besides, SunCoast has you fill out a detailed Spec Sheet on your vehicle, including year, Vin, and mods that effect what you want to buy, and what you plan to do with it.

I can't yet spill anything on my test TCM, but my '06 has not acted like it is -40F yet in over 750 miles of testing.
Having driven my CRD at -20 before and knowing how it does not want to shift into fifth overdrive, I personally dismiss this issue.

This is great news, finally someone is offering a solution for f-37. I `m tired of my shift points being on the fritz in my truck.

On the thread hijacking, relax. A little Competition is good.

How will that pre-F37 TCM change how my transmisson now operates?

It will make your Jeep shift like it did stock... into 4th and 5th OD at a little slower speed than they do with the F37. This means that you shift into your last gear at 58mph and can remain in that gear to around 54-55mph. Better mileage.

Well - better or worse mileage depends on how you drive - the Pre F37 would lock up earlier - ~1800-2000 so it let you use more torque - so you accelerated faster. however once you're locked up the mileage would be the same - and the Post F37 holds the lockup a little better...

some people got better mileage after F 37.

That said - I spend ~$1200 on a Suncoast and pump trying to reverse F37 and will spend more on the TCM module (although I might wait until GDE makes whatever announcement - that people have been hinting about)

I hate F37

True... I was more referring to CRD Joe, as I know he goes for high mpgs. Because the pre-F37 locks up earlier and holds at lower speeds, you can cruise in your last gear at 54-55mph. Doing so would likely net you the highest possible mileage.

:SOMBRERO:

I don't know the details, but rumor has it that it will be the pre-F37 + some.

Great, I guess Ill hold off then and wait for the GDE guys. Id advise them to put something out to prevent others from getting theirs done now.

You know, we should give some credit to Suncoast for their efforts, I mean they should get a piece of the pie as well, I think we are being a little discouraging here. But maybe Suncoast is going to have to up the ante?
