Do you do timing belts on the CRD too?
Yes, I can. It isn't something I do on a regular basis though on a CRD. Mine is due for a timing belt in another 20K, so before summer most likely. I do mine every 50K just because I blew one off my SVT Focus at like 65K and crashed the head. I wasn't happy about that so that is when I decided on 50K intervals for my personal daily drivers and 10K for anything that I compete with.
When I rebuilt the top end of my CRD I sent everything out to be cleaned, the head was also freshened up and went back together with ARP head studs that I had to specifically spec out to ARP. The ARP studs are probably the only reason the head didn't blow sky high off the block when the Jeep was pushing 40 psi for a few weeks. The hot and cold sides of the turbo are ceramic coated. I also machined the exhaust manifold for the the egt sensor, smoothed it out and had it ceramic coated. I am not running a heat shield on my the manifold now and have not had any problems. My intake is still a work in progress but I think I would rather have a snorkel on it seeing that most of the places I end up in NH with friends happen to have many water crossings.
Before anyone jumps on me about my maintenance or that I overkill some of this stuff, let just say that anything I own gets used to it's max potential so therefore I go out of my way to fix them as soon as they break and do a good deal of preventative maintenance. Oh, and the only reason I rebuilt the top end of the crd is because it was beyond clogged and it drove me nuts knowing it was like that.
