We received the new torque converter, but it will be several weeks before it is installed and performance tested. We have trips coming up and this TC is planned to go in a CRD with a blown engine...which still needs to be replaced.

I have HD Torque Converters from Johnny on both the Jeep and my '02 Ford E350 Box truck. Both have been on for about 9 months. Performing well.

Good day.

Has it been confirmed yet if R8037142AA comes with or without bolts?

Peace,

Thomas

No bolts in my package.
Check out the part number, nothing free.
I simply used the correct stock part number and got the updated clutch.
After about 50k miles, much of it towing near capacity it passes my test.
I grenaded the earlier Coastal TC due to my faulty installation, about a $600 difference in price. YMMMV.

The trans shop still has my jeep, encountered some other issues. I am hoping to have it back early this week.

The issue the tranny shop encountered after the rebuild turned out to be a bad filter, a bad check valve was letting the torque converter drain back into the pan while it sat.

I was having no problems with the tranny before I brought it in to have the Transgo shift kit installed. They were going to swap the TC in the process. When they pulled the tranny they found someone had rebuilt it before and assembled it incorrectly. The overdrive and another pack was damaged. I had them also rebuild the transmission since it was already out

First Driving impression: Throttle-on power is much smoother, my old converter might have been slipping, maybe a lower stall speed with the new converter.

At highway speed with converter locked and gradual acceleration I was getting shutter. I no longer have this problem. My shutter is gone.

I will be towing my troops boy scout trailer this weekend. I can add another update next week.

My converter came with bolts.

Pulled the troop trailer full of gear, canoe on top with 4 of us and gear in the Jeep about 150 miles.

No shutter or issues.

Power from a stand-still seems stronger and smoother. Lower stall speed.

Works good for me.

Just wondering if you installed that TC. Any up dates?

We finished the install on mopar euro TC R8037142AA a couple weeks ago. It is installed on a 2005 CRD Liberty that is also running our turbo kit. We have not noticed any shudder with this TC and it is working great.

Put the Suncoast in mine with eaton TT rear diff last weekend. Running RC2 with EGR delete and straight thru exh. Amazing truck, no more shudder. 100mph pull, 26psi, 1450deg max pre-turbo. Gotta install snow wm kit, rear bags, and ready to tow.

1450 F, pre-turbo, NOT towing? OUCH! Better ditch that "Rocket Chip" FAST! GDE HOT tune is the most power you can safely put out with a stock turbo. Towing heavy with the HOT tune, you need to drive by the EGT gauge, go easy and NOT exceed 1200 F, pre-turbo. Search my old posts back in, I think, maybe 2008 when I did a bunch of back to back dyno tests comparing stock, IM SII, plus GDE ECO and HOT tunes.

What you do not know is that when you melt a turbo on a KJ CRD, you have about 30 seconds to turn off the key and kick it into neutral BEFORE the whole motor calves.

(Sorry, they should not do that, but they do.)
