As far as I know the transmission skid plate is still available, I did alot of shopping around and everyone has them. In the end my local dealer was the cheapest only because I did not have to pay shipping. You can find really good prices for the skids online but end up paying way to much for shipping.

Audiboy86,

How well does this protect the Oil filter? Any pictures of yours? And can you fit a larger filter with skid plate attached?

I'd also like to know more about that hump near the front, is that a trapdoor/access panel?

You have to remove the transmission/transfer case skid to even gain access to the oil filter and i have not tried a larger filter size yet but as long as the filter doesnt hang lower then the rear most engine crosssmember you will be fine. The hump up front is your access door for your front differential they say it can be serviced without removing the skid but i have never tried. When I do my differential services I just remove everything and do my transmission at the same time.

I have fit the bigger filter with the Asfir skid. You can change out the smaller filter with the skid in place but you will regret it. It will fill up the skid plate with oil and you will have to drop it for cleaning.

How wide does it go? My OEM plate only covers to about the 1/2 mark on the filter, meaning a rock could still potentially hit it. I think the SkidRow covers it completely.

I do not know about the 4xGuard ones though either.

It covers the whole filter plus they have raised sides to prevent anything getting in there between the frame rail on one side and exhaust on the other.
