I still haven't had a chance to even open the hood on it. As you may imagine, it is not a huge priority because it is also not my primary vehicle.
My VW TDI that you saw decided that it wasn't getting enough attention from me, and about 2-3 weeks ago now it decided to detonate the transmission in the driveway in Florida with a very loud bang. I'm not impressed by that, let me tell you. I think it snapped the output shaft - inside the casing. At the same time, I'm finishing up with the rebuild of the CRD from Atlanta that had the seized motor, and chasing down some serious water leaks in the body of my RV... Which has necessitated replacing the entire interior wall of about 10 feet of motorhome.
Each of these projects is still in progress, and at varying stages of complete... And each has its own challenges - not the least of which that I need a working car! The replacement transmission has been sourced from a zit of a town in Virginia (drove up last week and got that) about 90 minutes East of Lynchburg, and has 50k miles on it if the original owner can be believed. It does look to be in good shape. I finally managed to get it bolted to the engine this evening, and tomorrow will be spent getting it finally attached to the rest of the body and closed up. The biggest fight is the stupid crossmember that is just about 1/2" too wide to allow clearance easily. Joy.
Then there is a CRD in North Carolina, another in the NorthEast somewhere, both of which are ready to go with having my services... Another north of Dallas, one in Alabama... I might get back to mine somewhere around the 30th of February, 2025.
