Just a point not about most recent posts.
The 2006 ECM will start and run a 2005 CRD but only for a few seconds just the same as you used a key that would open door but isn't programmed through skim system.
That doesn't however mean that if the 2005 one was damaged by faulty wiring that the 2006 eco swapped into it couldn't be also damaged.
Another point above stated that you would need ECM and skim module swapped together to work but I dont see that particularly has to be done if a dealer or other can change the VIN number in the replacement ECM. Its been done many times before but not sure if dealer does it or not and if any chrysler dealers in Costa Rica anyway. Obviously could ship the ecm to one.
