orginal owner of a 2006 CRD sport with 74K miles. new off the lot for 20K+tax and I paid it off this january.

good little truck, i'm looking forward to getting a smaller car, but will keep the jeep around for a few more years.

fuel milage is pretty good, no real mechanical issues. I have the EHM, conical air filter with 2.5" turbo inlet hose, glass pack muffler and synthetic fluids in everything. it does have Lots of body sqeaks and bump, but it is a jeep afterall.

I would love to convert it to two tank SVO, I even have one of the doomed golden fuel systems divided tanks, but i can't figure out how to get a supply of oil easily and or quickly. i don't want to make freinds with all the local dishwashers and that seems to be the way to get good free oil. oh well.

Bought my 06 Limited new May 20, 06 with 9 miles on it for $25,000 out the door I had owned 3 Cherokees and many VW diesels. I love the XJ's and never even thought about a Liberty till the VM diesel was offered. I got a 7/70 extended Chrysler warranty after the sale. I got the jeep, it's not a truck, in anticipation of retirment and getting a small camping trailer. I "got" retired and bought a Casita 17' trailer.
I've had more recalls on this jeep then all the other cars and trucks I've owned/driven combined
THE AIR IN FUEL problem showed up within the first mile of ownership and the dealer was never able to duplicate. But they were kind enough to neuter it on my very first visit  I've had the FCV and EGR valves both replaced, front windows fixed and I resolved the air in fuel problem with a dodge/cummins lift pump. I expected from my previous diesel experience about 30 MPG but at 24,000 miles my all time high is 24.9 mpg :? On the other side of the coin my intown MPG is double what I get on XJ's.
I found it's not a vary capable tow vehicle in hilly terrian with the current transmission flash. On about any grade it's 3rd gear and the engine screaming, what a waste

I have since gotten a 00 Cherokee Classic I prefer to drive more then my CRD  Sure would like the VM in my XJ with the AW4 transmission behind it  Sir Sam, I'm with you here!

I bought a White Limited 2005 CRD last October at Darner Jeep in Mesa, Az.
It was the owner's son's...he wanted to get something larger. It had 36k on it when I bought it and now has a little over 44. I've taken it on some easy offroad trails in Sedona and northeast of Scottsdale. Haven't had any problems with it so far. It's got the SelectTrac with 4WD Low, High and Fulltime.

Seeing as how this is both my first Jeep and first diesel vehicle any helpful tips would be appreciated. Looking to meetup with some AZ KJer's for an offroad run.

My 05 has 50k now, all our miles. My only problem is that we are making baby #3, which is going to get tight back there. On the other hand, if I get a diesel Ford Excursion or something giant for the fam car, then I'll finally get a chance to take the Jeep!

ps MAF check @50k showed dark dust but no chunky gunk. I mostly credit the EHM + ORM, not the biodiesel so much since I drove many winter months on all dino diesel.

Well, I've been MIA for quite a while... Ordered ours from factory in Jan of 2006, picked it up in late April, and it now has 73,000 miles on the clock. Installed the Provent & lube pump upon receipt. Did all else over the next couple thousand miles. Had a couple minor problems as listed in sig early on but none since, or at least nothing new. Ran it primarily on B100 for the first several thousand miles but a fuel leak would usually put it into limp mode on WOT, or, occasionally, kill it. Replacing the tank module and the first section of line greatly diminished the leak but we still had a couple instances of limp mode running on high concentrations of BD and so have more or less abstained from BD until I can get around to installing a lift pump (back in school now; no time). Despite this, we love the thing and intend to keep it for good. We regularly tow a utility trailer on our Sierra Nevada foothill roads, and occasionally a horse trailer, and it performs wonderfully. We recently acquired a 22' 1959 airstream trailer that it'll be pulling as well. Nothing else would allow us to tow what we do and yet give us 30 mpg on the highway, relatively great handling on our endlessly windy roads, and such superb maneuverability. And, of course, it also does great off-road. Although it ain't perfect, we're very happy with it overall.

I got mine in January 2006 and have 83,500 miles on it mostly towing a 3,000 lbs trailer moving from Delaware to Washington. Many trips. Yeah that is crazy but wife is so attached to the furniture so I had to move them all a little at a time.

Just got my 2006 Liberty CRD Limited at the begining of August 2009 with just under 38k on it. Now it has 42K on it. It is my first Jeep, First diesel, and my only vehicle so its my daily driver.

I have not done much yet just added the fumoto valve, changed the tires, oil,oil filter, fuel filter, battery and all the wiper blades. I just got my MH ProVent yesterday so I will be installing that soon.

I love this jeep and am very happy to have found lost even before I bought it. Image

Thanks! she has gotten new shoes since that pic. I didn't like how the Goodyears handled in the rain and well at 41k they weren't going to see another good year anyhow. I want to take some new pics.

I like the color of yours too, you have done more mods than me too. hoping to get my provent in soon. just need to figure out how to mount it.

I got my 05 sport in October 05 1st owner with 91 miles. Built in Jan 05 There must have been many test drives? There were scratches in the clearcoat perhaps from a tree branch while it sat on the lot for 9 months.
I now have 73,000 miles as a daiy driver. Only a little trailor towing and my CJ-7 as I now have an Envoy XL

Negatives:
1. Towed back to two different dealerships after it wouldn't start during my first week of ownership. First place replaced keyfob. Second place replaced the battery. Never had a problem since.
2. f37 - required new TC and Trans controler because it wouldn't take flash.
3. Replaced trans fluid contol module after CEL
4. ball joints - recall
5. Replaced Throttle Body after CEL
6. Bent rear drive shaft - my fault

Positives
1. The POWER
2. The Selectrac all time all-wheel drive.
3. It's a Jeep!
4. Easy to get in and out of tight spots.
5. I've never felt the shudder from the TC.

All Stock
1. Just found a Provent 200 today purchase will go down next week.
2. I messed with the MAF plug during this tank and had a massive difference in fuel econ. - Best milage ever was a road trip to DC/Boston from Michigan. 28 MPG
3. Always use Mobil 1 0W-40 every 6-9000 miles
4. On third fuel filter - same head and plug
5. replaced rotors f/r once
6. Used K+N til this board trashed it. I'm trying new filter type during the next two oil changes to check for difference.
7. New Goodyear Wranglers (I really liked them in the winter here)

All in all, I'm pretty happy. I knew what I was getting in a Jeep.

My love affair with diesels started back in 1992. I am a Refrigeration & HVAC Contractor, I was working at a hotel near the Ford dealer ship. I always liked Econoline vans because they were built like trucks, Full body on frame, Dodge of Chevy was not offering this back then. Also any thing heavy duty like an ambulance or a utility bucket van was built on the Econoline. Ford just came out with a new body style after 16 years (I guess the lack of change kept them more reliable?) So I went and looked at them, the sales man saw me and headed down, asked if I wanted to do a test drive. It was about 20 degrees out and he puts me in a 7.3 liter diesel. When I started it, it really made a clatter, nothing like the gassers I was used too. So I talked to my uncle who was familiar with diesels and he said, "Get the diesel." After that I was hooked, I loved the sound, the smell and the torque.

Any ways, I have owned a bunch since then, and I only bought the Jeeps because they make a nice wrapper for the engine.

Running Diesels almost exclusively since 1992

Hello all! I am the proud owner of an '05 Liberty CRD Sport with 101,000 miles. I purchased it a couple of months ago and have been trying to get onto lost since before then and FINALLY I got the email. I paid $8,500 for the Jeep and it had 96,000 miles on it then. I also own a 99.5 TDI jetta that has Rocket Chip stage 3, bigger injectors, bigger turbo, bigger injection pump, etc. I am working on getting the parts for the TB job on the CRD now, hope to get it done before December gets here.

'06 ltd crd, bought new in 06-06, have 33,000 on it now, all of the recalls but never had any problems. Have done the EHM and the FCV, same filter head no leaks no problems. Used M1 0-40 and factory filters since new. Changed the ST's out for AT's,put on the rear window air deflector, added factory skids this year. Have a Blue Ox tow plate mounted on front. The factory jack isn't much to brag about though. My latest mod was air brake booster, it mounts to the seat and attaches to the pedal works great. It did develop it's first problem the resistor on the heater fan is gone, and will need replacing. It already had the chrome package on it when I bought it, the mirror covers fell off after a few months, they were just taped on. Over all I can say it has been a great Jeep, this is my fifth diesel as the rest were VW's.

Bought my jeep July 2007 with 26,400 miles on it and EGR out in the first week but was under warranty. It now has 53,600 and going strong. I had some air in fuel problems that the cummins pump install solved completely. I have a lot of things to do to it soon as the funds allow. Tires needed first, GDE tune, Samco boost hoses, Pro-vent, and expect the stock red top to give up before long. I noticed that I loose about 2 MPG when the MAP sensor needs cleaned. Even with the SEGR and EHM it gets dirty about every 3000-4000 miles. From what, I don't know. It may still be old gook coming in from the intercooler and boost hoses.

I really like mine to a point that I am getting a little perinoid about driving it where someone might hit me and cause me to lose it. We were only blessed with a few of these vehicles and, once they are gone or used up, I don't see anything else new comming to replace it. I put my name on the list to be notified when a Mahindra Scorpion is available for a test drive but have not heard anything since. Still, I won't give up the Jeep anyway. I plan on keeping it until the socialist take away my freedom to own it.

Sport 03 CRD Libby ... 2.8 CRD ... I think these models only came out in the UK and here in South Africa (and maybe Australia?) ...
Got it at 70k Miles, and it's currently almost hitting 125k ...
Stock standard (but stock standard might differ from stock standard in the US) ..
Only had 1 major failure last year November, when one of the idler pulleys broke, the timing belt jumped off, and broke all 16 rocker arms (The previous owner replaced the freekin pulley at 60k service, with a second hand pulley! )
Busy opening the engine for a second time, becuase of a clacking sound in the top (my own fault this time) ... suspect that it's just one of the lifters that's stuck ..
Other than the above two problems, I had NO other problem with it ... I regularly pull a caravan with it, so it get it's workout regularly ..
