But you have a 2006... Are you sure your KJ hasn't already been neutered?

They switched the style of torque converters used around November 05 on 06 models. I think the actual flash neutering started in a "unofficial" update done by dealers starting in June 06. That update caused third party scanners not to work requiring the later F31 flash. My January 06 model has had three flashes that effect transmission shifting  For the first 3 weeks of ownership mine was not neutered. I got it in May and in June it went to the dealer for a coolant hose popped off

That's sad Joe. I got the complete history of my 05, and I know it had both the F31 and F37 done to it, not sure about the extent of the F37 though. The history didn't say whether it had the whole TC / pump / flash done to it. But I just *love* being stuck behind people that can't get their cars above 48mph, so that I can spend lots of money making transmission fluid warm.

I want to know how low of a stall / lockup that Suncoast can design the TC for. If it can start actually DOING something at 1200-1400 instead of the 1600-1800 that it is now... I think my mileage would go up tons. I hate that the engine revs to almost 2000 rpm before any real motion of the tires starts, at every light. Why would they design something like this?

On a similar note: If our transmission has a cousin that has 6 gears... Can we get / use that same setup? Any chance of putting another OD gear into the 545 casing?

It's called a MANUAL gearbox :D

Hehehe, couldn't resist, sorry mate :P

PS: Even though I miss the KJ I am pretty fond of the gearbox in the little TDI, it has some nice ratios and I don't mind doing the shifting when I know I control the "lockup" myself :)

Manual gearbox would have been a nice option for American CRD's.

Manual gearbox, Cummins fuel filter head, cummins lift pump... all would have made a good idea a great product from the start, along with a better TC.

We filled up the libby to the neck, topping off with B100. So a B20ish blend.

We drove 544 miles. I put in 2.17 gallons before beach driving on the OBX.

Accounting for the 2.17 gallons, we got 27.something (close to 28 ), not counting it we got 30.01.

Given we used AC, ran above the speed limit, lowered the tire pressure and drove on the beach in 4L, I consider the Jeep to be worth its weight in Gold for the average SUV'ers need.

I simply can't think of another vehicle I can drive on the beach, haul parrot cages around in, climb over parking bumps in the urban jungle, or leave me stranded on the side of a higghway because of a sudden temperature change (air in fuel). :)
