I live in denver and last weekend towed my wifes jeep (99 Sahara 4in lift) so we could take it on the trails around Silverton/Durango. I had to laugh that I got better gas milage towing her jeep than she gets driving it. Overall average was 22.2 which included an afternoon of following her up and over Imogene Pass. I used a tow bar for the trip. Has anyone else towed vehicles? I am looking to buy a camper but I am just not about how much to push the weight rating. 2006 CRD Black |

Just finished towing my race car on a trailer 220 miles round trip and triving to and from the hotel. Less than half a tank. I was not being easy on the pedal either when starting. Here I am allowed only 80kph but I was doing 90-100kph on the autobahn. I LOVE IT! I am finaly impressed.

I towed my 2005 wrangler with a tow bar for 500 miles round trip a few months ago. Got 15.9 mpg..not bad at all. |

I've posted some questions and got a lot of responses when inquiring about towing my Coleman popup. You might want to do some searches for that. Lot's of good advice. At any rate, I tow a 3000lb+ Coleman popup. 1st trip with it taught me a lot. I got over 20 MPG. It tows with no problems up and down the steepest mountain passes(I live in Utah.......went up I80 over pass and into Wyoming to Colorado). The only problem that I had was a bit of sway at 72+ MPH. I will be picking up a sway bar for future trips. That weight of trailer pushed me around a bit in sway but nothing that slowing down and being a littler more cautious couldn't handle. Make sure you put elec brakes on. If you need help with that, do search for elec brake installation here on forum and you'll find some pretty detailed instructions. Anyways, I've found the CRD to be a perfect vehicle for me. I used it to commute around town, tow camper, tow small trailer for work to remote places(I own a security solutions company (CCTV and Access control). Utah has slightly higher diesel prices, but what are you going to do? Summary, this vehicle will tow just about anything you want it to. The only limitations are the shorter wheelbase IMO. I towed my buggy with a pretty heavy trailer. The CRD was smoking like crazy going down the road
