Make sure you have some BIG tools!

I was going to break my Craftsman 3/8" drive ratchet, or the 8mm hex-head socket it requires to remove the drain plug...I could tell one of them was going to snap. So I decided I'd rather snap the socket than the ratchet. So I used a 1/2" to 3/8" adapter and a big 1/2" drive ratchet, and tugged and tugged and finally with a loud POP the drain plug broke free, and the ratchet almost flew out of my hand, and I cut my thumb...I guess on the skid plate. GEEZ...that was ridiculous. Thanks DC for torqueing my drain plug to 200 ft./lbs.

Funny thing is, the OEM oil filter was on so loose that it had already begun to leak around the edges.

The diesel engine oil is a lot nastier than gasoline engine oil, so expect it to stain your driveway, clothes, etc. if it drips on there. I was glad I did mine out in the street!

The NAPA part numbers:
1516 for oil filter
2329 for air filter

seem to work perfectly if anyone wants to save money instead of going to the dealer for parts.

Wear gloves when you change oil. The products from combustion in used lube oil in a diesel are a known carcinogen.
