I want to get the skid plate for my CRD which covers the oil filter area. I drove to a remote pond last weekend and saw several scratches on the oil filter when I got back while I was hosing off dirt. I personally think the filter should not be where it is.

Jeep lists the following 3 skid plates on the mopar site:
82209026 Front Suspension, Steel (same as production) $49.00
82209455 Transfer Case, Steel, (same as production) $49.00
82210003 Transmission, Steel, bridges the gap between front and transfer case skid plates, front skid plate (82209026) must also be installed $49.00

I have "factory" plate under engine area, but don't understand which one of the above I need. Also, as I do not "rock climb" I don't think I need a real heavy plate and believe an oem would be fine as I just want to protect that oil filter.

You already have a front shield. I call it a shield because it is only 1/16" thick on the CRD from the factory. If you order the front skid plate (82209026) it will be the same shape as our CRD shield, but will be 2/16" thick. My front shield has taken some heavy hits on river rocks with some denting, but has thus far held up well - also, our lower insulation is attached to it and the plastic splash guard sits on top of it.

Of course, stripped a screw in the hood for the bug shield - I swear, I ALWAYS have one screw or bolt to fix - it's becoming the Jeep of mis-fit bolts. :lol:

We have a Persian cat that just loves to watch me work in the garage, the electric impact, skill saw or shop vac noise does not bother him for some reason

My dog asked me to suggest that you use some of those tools on the cat to make sure they are working properly.

You need this one from your list above, it works really well: 82210003 Transmission, Steel, bridges the gap between front and transfer case skid plates $49.00 You already have a front shield. Hey Alljeep I did measure the skids on mine and the front standard skid is 3/16" while the optional skids are 5/16" thick. If you are not doing any real hard offroading or rock crawling the OEM front skid is fine. I don't think you will find anyone here who is crazy about the placemrnt of the oil filter. be ready for a mess when you change the darn thing. Also check out the Fumoto Oil drain & adaptor at Lubrication Specialist it is a must with these crazy thread oil drain plugs.

Dog gone if I wasn't trying to measure those things again last night as I was using the Dremel to get that nutzert bolt cling-on off the jeep. Drilled through the cross member and installed a real bolt/washers/nut. I'm sure I need glasses now, as my factory CRD front skid/shield measured 1/16" thick at the rear of it where I could see it - of course it was 10pm by then and I had been in the driveway for several hours putting on a new mopar bug shield and roof rails. When I changed the gear oil I was looking at mine and I think the darn thing is thinner in some places then others. But I really didn't bother to check, was too busy keeping the long haired cat out of the way. We kind of did that this morning when the wife had the shears trimming the hair around his southern most area to prevent unwanted build-up and hair matting. What's supprising is he really doesn't put up much of a fuss when we trim him, but I hold him anyway just for his safety.
