Post subject:  Shell Rotella T 5W-40 Synthetic

I know I have had a few oil posts over the last two weeks and I think I have settled on using Rotella T 5W-40. But I have been to every where in town and no buddy sells it. Even the local Shell distributer does not even know if they can get it. I live in what I belive is a big city and the only oil I can even find in the right weight is Mobil 1 0w-40. I just don't get it.

Is there anyone on line selling it?

If Wal Mart doesn't have it, try Tractor Supply Company (TSC) if there's one in your area.

That's strange, this past Sunday at both TSC and Wally World in this area, they had it by the boatload. :?

Hey Bovie,

It is kind of the same thing here in Indianapolis. Some Walmart stores carry the big liter bottles, and some only have quarts....while others don't have either. Check out a couple different Walmarts and I bet you'll find it.

Like retmil46 said, TSC probably has it too. Our stores did carry it, but it was a few dollars more.

Good luck.

There are two more walmarts within 50 miles and a truck stop that carries Shell Rotella. I guess I will be going on a mini road trip this weekend in search of oil.

Well, 120 miles and $125 later I now have 8 Gallons of Rotella T Synthetic 5W-40.

Do any of you guys take have the dealer change the oil but with your own oil?

I know people who have done that....but it is pretty easy to do yourself. I think the last time I had a dealer change my oil was back when VW did the first few for free under warranty.

I'm too cheap to pay to have it done. The oil is expensive eneough.

You guys are seeing the same happening here as did with Mobil when they split the Mobil 1 T & SUV into gas and diesel. The local Wal-Mart has pulled the Shell Rotell T & Chevron Dello 400 from the shelves and it is probably because they are replacing it with reformulated CJ-4+ oil. As with Mobil there may be periods of outage from the shelf.

That said the local Wal-Mart store auto dept mgr said they were discontinuing carrying these two oils due to poor sales. Maybe Mobil cut a price deal with Wal-Mart to get Shell & Chevron pulled off the shelf at Wal-Mart.

I guess I am set for about 1 1/2 years with the stuff I just bought but I would like to find another source. I wish someone online sold it.

Post subject:  finding oil

I've heard the Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel oil is stocked at Wally World, too, but both of them in my area do not have it, although they carry the Rotella. So I had to resort to online purchase of the Mobil product, since that was MY oil of choice. I found it online at http://store.avlube.com/index.html.

So, have you looked for the Rotella at http://www.rotella.com/wheretobuy/ or not?

I tried the local Walmart, looking for both Mobile-1 and Rotella 5W-40 - no dice. They did finally have the remarked Power Service Gray and White in the 96 oz jugs. Their oil section was nearly bare of all Mobile-1, even for gasolene engines. A superwalmart too. Time to start looking farther out for a TSC somewhere.

There's a TSC in Salisbury on Jake Alexander Blvd. It's on the east side of the bridge where old Hwy 29 (Main Street) crosses over Jake Alexander.
