Picked up my CRD last night---sweet! Build date was 5/17/06. Must be one of the last ones. I showed the dealership the 18-023-06 Bulletin and they ran the VIN and said it came back clean. Am I good to go? Runs good, looks good---I love it! ![]() |

Runs good, looks good---I love it! ![]() If it showed up clean it means it has not been done, and I don't thing running a VIN check will show TSBs - maybe wrong. You should print it out and take it to them, again, and show them the line that states to "perform repair when in for service" which yours already was as part of the dealer check for your purchase. It was released over a month after yours was built, and the last one was built May 20, 2006 for the USA, so yes, yours is close to the end. All you newbie buyers really are getting a good thing! Great prices now and the best options on the '06 models! How about some pics to show off that Atlantic Blue!!! |

It was definitely what I wanted. I wish they would bring them back. Maybe I could talk Wife into trading her Nissan Mallfinder on a green one. ![]() |

With the drain plug and filter so easily accessible, oil changes look like a breeze. I think I'll run the Rotella 5w-40. How tight or snug should I tighten the oil filter? I haven't changed my own oil in years and never on my VW's due to clearance/accessibility. I had my old Jetty in at a Quick Lube years ago and after the oil/filter change they told me to fire it up and the dang filter blew off. They said it was because of the extra pressure from the diesel. ![]() ![]() ![]() BTW---I showed the dealer the bulletin. Maybe I should call the service manager. The transaction took place pretty late---8pm or so until we could get in. I may stop back tomorrow---I noticed some bulges this afternoon in at least two tires including the spare---didn't seem quite right. ![]() |

Love those tyres. Mine didn't have bulges... mine had dips instead! |

Yeah, I thought it was a little unusual for the spare to cup. ![]() At least I haven't popped a CEL yet. ![]() |

I went the very next day to a Goodyear retail store - traded the tires in for the Goodyear Wrangler SilentArmor tires. I was given a couple hundred dollars credit for the old tires (which IMO is about 4x what they are worth) ... they *should* be willing to do this as long as you have less than 500 miles on the tires. The SilentArmors are MUCH better ... |

The salesman said if I have any problems with the tires, everything was cool for the first 12k and then I'd have to go to Goodyear. This is starting to look like the Ford Explorer/Firestone debacle. ![]() |

![]() It's not nearly THAT bad. The tires just skid all over the place... no rollovers or accidents have been the fault of the tires. |

![]() They are just thin walled. I traded mine in to a Bridgestone dealer for $75 credit each with only 588 miles on them. I should have done the spare, just wasn't thinking at the time. You'll get your best mileage with the stock tires or replacements of same size... As for oil change, I hand tighten the filter (with two hands) as tight as I can get it, then I'm done. |

I've done a lot of reading on here and didn't recall seeing any issues with the Far King tires. Should I stop back at the stealership? I guess there's no sense in an exchange unless I upgrade. Always something... ![]() |

Called the stealership and left a message---everyone's too buys to talk once they know you're got a problem 20 hours after the puchase. Called a Goodyear dealer and will stop by to see them tomorrow. I guess these tires are crap. I thought they'd be good wet road tires but that doesn't even look good. Here's a comparison to the Silent Armor's http://www.goodyeartires.com/goodyeartireselector/results_vehicle.jsp?year=2006&make=JEEP&model=Liberty%2BCRD%2BSport&option=4x4&mrktgrp=Light+Truck&image.x=46&image.y=9 The stock tires don't even offer a warranty! How much cabbage to buck up to the Silent Armors? ![]() ![]() ![]() PS---all 5 tires have this condition! I guess I could keep the spare for an emergency and buy a nice cover for it. ![]() |

I ditched the ST's for Fortera Silent Armors and love them. After they take off your ST's compare the weight and sidewall thickness of the two. ![]() ![]() |

Post subject: | Update |
Update---dealer and tire shop showed me many other Goodyear tires with the same condition. Tire shop wouldn't let me trade up, so I'm stuck with them---the Silent Armours are something like $750.00 for 4 and these POS SR's are around $650.00. ![]() |

I sold mine(ST's) on Craigslist for $200.00 with fairly low miles on 'em |

I posted this in response to another topic yesterday, but I had my left front go through a sidewall failure and rapid deflate (just shy of a blow out) yesterday. Ruined the tire and happened fast enough that the TPM didn't alarm. No wheeling with these tires either just highways and back roads. I am guessing that Goodyear will not cover it so I will probably start looking at a trade to Toyo's from Les Schwab. |
