PML diff cover instructions states to torque bolts to 15 ft/lbs. LubeLocker gaskets instructions states to torque to 15 ft/lbs first time, then 35 ft/lbs 2nd time sequence. Is this because it's a gasket, as opposed to the PML instructions assuming you are using RTV? Was very easy install and mine fit even with fuel tank skid plate. Need answer! Please.

I put a lubelocker on my CRD rear and just torqued normally. Actually, it works far and away better than messing with RTV. Since the 3 ribbons of sealer used on the lubelocker is not as flexible as a new ribbon of RTV, I can see why their instructions are what they are.

I would just follow the sequence they describe in tightning up the bolts, then torque them up and know that next time, you won't have to waste a lot of time cleaning up RTV residue from the pot or the cover! :D

So, I should torque to 35ft/lbs?

Yes, because it's a cut gasket. When I installed the PML cover found it a bit tricky getting the 15 ft-lbs and drawing the cover in against the oozing ATV. Had to go around the screw pattern several times to get it even. Using the PML cover with a cut gasket, be careful not to over tighten as you might crack the flange on aluminum casting. May also want a little locktite on the threads because of the light torque. You may want to call PML and ask them for torque specs for use with a cut gasket.

I I remember correctly the reason for the light torque is for RTV sealer, I would think that 35 lbs on that aluminum flange is not excessive at all. That is what you would torque the drain plug to in the CRD, the rivnuts for the skids, just to mention a few. Hey if worried torque to about 25 and use thread lock.
