This is an exact cut and paste from the St Louis Biofuels Club mailing list, so I don't take credit for original content. I can answer questions and will be attending, however:

Quote:
If you haven't already done so, now is the time to sign up for
gMark's classes "Homebrew Biodiesel and Biodiesel Equipment Building
Classes" on the weekend of August 26 and 27! This is your chance to
learn how to make biodiesel from the Mother of Biodiesel Homebrewing
and the designer of the famous Appleseed processor that we all use.
To put this opportunity into perspective, it's kind of like learning
how to make a telephone from Alexander Graham Bell, or how to make
bourbon personally from Jack Daniels. Well, you get the idea.

gMark will shortly announce these workshops to the general public,
and typically all 30 seats sell out. So be sure to register right
away to make sure you get a place. Just go to this page on Mark's own
site to register:

For these workshops there will be a lot of emphasis on understanding
what we are doing chemically, how to recognize quality, and how to
diagnose and fix problems. In addition, you have the option to build
your own processor if you don't already have one. Our hobby is
changing so rapidly that even though I went to our 2004 classes I
plan to go again and make sure I'm up to date with state-of-the-art
techniques and testing.

For those of you who are relatively new to the Club, we were formed
in 2004 to support gMark's last visit to St. Louis. If you scroll
down on these pages you can see some photos of that occasion:

It was as a result of the last workshops that I was able (with
Terri's help) to get started making my own biodiesel. We had an
incredibly good time and learned a lot that weekend and I know we
will also enjoy the weekend of August 26 and 27.

One (if not more) of our club members will be hosting an "open garage" to showcase her biodiesel processing setup (including her methanol recovery system- very cool), and perhaps a BBQ as well. My place will not be up to snuff in time for the event, otherwise I would. Perhaps I'll host a GTG over the winter. This class is supposed to be very focused on producing high-quality biodiesel, which is quite important in a newer engine like ours. Those old Mercedes engines will burn any old crap you put in them. :D The St Louis Biofuels Club is hosting the event locally, and has tons of very knowledgeable and friendly members.

Sign up soon, as the workshop is expected to fill up quickly.
