Post subject:  ahhhh -- New '06 CRD ...
So Im a long time Jeep owner -- I currently have a 02 libby and a 02 TJ. I just purchased my 8th Jeep, an '06 Libby CRD. It has 216 miles on it right now ... And the more I read the more I wonder about my choice in the CRD ... So I have some questions and I hope you guys can help ...

1. Should I get a Pro Vent ASAP?
2. Should I take the KJ in to catch up on TSB's and which ones should I push?
3. I did not get the Extended Wrty -- I guess I should go back and ask for it. Any ideas on the cost?
4. When I slam the gas at a full stop the jeep starts off slow for a second then takes off like a banshe out of hell. Is this normal?
5. Im averaging 20mpg city/hwy at 70pmh on hwy and very calm/slow city driving. I am driving like an old lady. What can be causing this?

1. Yes, or at least open vent the crankcase until an adaquate filter can be installed
2. On an '06 check it for the BCM reflash. Also new software for the engine & tranny TSB 18-023-06 just released in mid July.
3. Given the mechanical history of this product, it would be smart to get the 7yr/100K mile, $0 deductible B2B so the pricey tranny & EGR stuff are covered if you plan to keep this past 3yrs/36K miles. On my '05, paid @ $1200.
4. Yep, turbo lag. Don't worry, it will grow on you once you are used to it. Be careful on wet pavement, when it lights up you can get sideways faster than you can react. Hopefully your traction control & ESP will catch it.
5. Give it some time to loosen up. Watch your idle time and sitting in stopped traffic, it eats a lot of fuel. Once it loosens up some more, don't be afraid to thrash on it some.
6. Take some time to scan through the topics on this forum. The CRD learning curve is getting better by the day.

They don't when compared to a gasser, but when talking 8L diesel or larger that is a lot of fuel when idling.

I think I remember the 1.9L VW TDI used about 1/2 liter per hour at idle.

Regarding the extended warrenty, which you should get on the 06 CRD.

You might want to compare policies online along with what you can get at your dealer. Remember, the dealer gets a cut of the policy amount when you buy from them.

I got a 7yr/100K warrenty from the dealer. His policy price was right in line with what I found online. And he waived any deductable if work is done by them. Can't recall off top of my head what I paid for it.

With the history of the CRD, it is a prudent move to get the Ext Warranty. Who knows, it might not be necessary! :lol:

What is a BCM reflash and where can I check?

Is the TSB 18-023-06 the only one I should worry about?
