Well, I dropped the Jeep off last night for the 3rd check engine light. I'm assuming its the EGR this time, as the previous two were glowplugs, and my mpg is down ~10%. So, the service writer calls me this morning stating they can't 'just do' a TSB there needs to be a problem. So, I tell him about the tranny shudder. He of course says they have to replicate the problem. I don't have an issue with that, so I reply, well, you've replaced two glow plugs, and this tsb addresses glow plugs as well to make us both happy. He again states that there has to be a problem. Hello, the two glow plugs you've replaced are problems! So, my question is how do you guys 'sweet' talk these guys and get these TSBs done??? And since its a reflash there should be a sticker affixed somewhere stating the ECM was reflash correct? |

Sweet talk???, more like BFH across the forehead. I had to print a copy of the TSB (from Alldata), highlight the line "if the vehicle is in for service, do the repair" and basically shove it in the service manager's face. In the printed TSB, there is an image of the sticker with instructions. Most likely find it on the underside of the hood or on the top of the core support. It wasn't until I sent a demand letter and threatened to Lemon out of this Jeep did they really take notice. |

Read the TSB, it ussually contains text that describe the symptoms that the TSB are known to correct. Then when you go in to the dealer, describe the problem you are encountering exactly as in the TSB. They put the sticker on my computer when I had the TSB preformed. |

RFCRD, thanks for pointing out the "If the vehicle is in for service perform the Repair Procedure." |

Sounds like it's time to start working your way up the chain, and raising a little stink. Put it to them this way - you've already had to replace two glow plugs under warranty. There's a TSB out that addresses this issue. What would you guys rather do, keep replacing glow plugs under warranty or do the d####d TSB and get it over with? |

I'm sorry to hear about the problems your having with your dealership. I will be taking my CRD in soon to get an oil change at 2,000miles and will be asking them to use the Shell Rotella T 5W-40 I will be bringing in. (I hope they don't cause a stink about that). I also will be getting them to fix a window seal that is not seated correctly. I guess what makes me mad is that anytime I go to the dealer and ask a question they don't know what I am talking about. For example I asked what kind of oil they used, they could only tell me it was buld and they didn't know the brand. (That really makes me want to use your oil) I guess I would just expect the dealer to know what is going on. Don't they get paid to do the TSB's? |

WOO HOO! Victory is mine! They just called and said they performed the TSB. Now, I just gotta double check'em. I think the statement that says to do it when its in for repair got'em! |

Went through the same thing as you. You will have to argue with them that there are no Symptoms in the printed out TSB. Hence, only thing that matters is "perform when vehicle is in for service." May require getting the service manager out, in front of other service writers, and doing a little yelling. Force them to read the symptoms section out load and then ask them if those are real symptoms - since they only say they are performance enhancements I'd like to hear their answer. |

Each dealer approaches the TSB's differently so if the one you are using isn't interpreting them to your benefit the other alternative is try to find one who will. So far Ihave been lucky. |

| Post subject: | Recall time = TSB time |
I'm waiting till I get my recall notice to do my TSB's. That should be a real joy. I cant imagine my dealer swamped with libby's trying to get their ball joints replaced- and then me asking for a computer flash. But that's how I'm going to play it. They also need to replace my o/d on off button which is failing. I guess I just use the thing too often. Luckily I'm a "monster class" human and I usually don't have to raise my voice to get what I want. |

Make sure you point out in the TSB that its not an 'optional' thing, or that they have to replicate the problem, it clearly states to do it when its in for service/repair in it. |
