My boss needed a ride home yesterday afternoon since he had to leave his 2 year old F350 at the dealers for the fourth time for something that seemed suspiciously like our EGR problems. In the Ford the story goes that if you don't drive often then the valve corrodes and sticks. Can't be fixed, only replaced. Again it took four visits before they figured it out.

I know what your taking about, also in Ford training. It would be the valve train sticking not the EGR valve. The piston will hit the valve flat so hopefully no damage. If so the instructor claims that spraying with wd-40 will loosing them up, otherwise expensive repair removing heads. Hopefully he still has warrenty

Hummmmm. Now he said it they replaced the turbo. When I suggested that perhaps it was a "flow control valve" he said that was what the problem was but they had to replace the whole turbo.
