Looking for info from our friends across the pond. Is your mileage any better than ours with an auto? |

I had a manual TDI Jetta and I sure liked being in more control over the gears. |

I'll stick with my auto here in DC traffic! |

But with a manual you can just stick it a gear and let it idle along, we have the torque. My buddy with a 6spd Cummins Dodge gets really good mileage in town doing that. |

Heh, that's why I have all automatics now, nothing like that wonderful DC metro stop-n-go ....heh....seems like you spend a lot more time stopped though. |

Yep, manual 2.5 CRD, 50.000 Miles and 26 MPG. Started out doing 24 MPG but the more Miles the better the consumption gets. Keeping the tire pressure right (33PSI) helps a lot and living 45 Miles away from the nearest traffic lights helps also. I shift up between 1600 and 2000 rpm and the engine seldom refs over 2500 rpm. The CRD is so powerfull that you can shift from first to second etc to fifth without using the trottle at all. |

Thats what I am talking about..... If I end up keeping this thing I would love to swap to a manual. I don't have any traffic to really worry about. |
