Hi all,

I wanted to start a seperate topic in case anyone will be able to find this information useful.

Took my 06 Liberty (approx 1400 miles) with a BD of 01-06 into the dealer to have TSB 18-023-06 (reflash TCM & ECM) done.

The tranny had the hard lock-up at 35mph and studdered pretty badly between 55-65.

I had a lot of vibration (felt mostly through the steering wheel) at highway speeds.

I just spoke to the Service Advisor this morning, they weren't able to get to it yesterday so they had to keep it overnight. They just finished flashing it with the TSB, they are replacing both front rotors, and they are going to balance my wheels.

I will post an update after I pick her up to let everyone know how she runs. I think a lot of the problem is that I just purchased two weeks ago and the car has been sitting on the dealer lot since at least Jan/Feb so the rotors probably got corroded and became warped when I started using them.

Other than the crappy Chevy Aveo loaner they gave me, I have been pretty happy with Heritage (MileOne) Jeep in Owings Mills, MD.

Stay tuned for update.

This is normal after a reflash (or if battery is disconnected). This computerized transmission learns your habits and adjusts over time. It's not just a Jeep thing. Allison bus transmissions do the same thing and very noticable as SOP with a bus is to throw the battery disconnect switch while parked for extended periods of time.

Well, everything seems to be good at this point. The surging is gone and the vibration is gone. Just got back from a trip to the eastern shore and she seems to be running great.

They did the ECM portion of the TSB, Reflashed the TCM via the recall F31, and replaced the front rotors.

I even saw another CRD on 13 South in Salisbury, MD. It had american flag custom graphics on the side. I pulled up beside him/her and beeped and waved.

I took my CRD in to the dealer for its 6250 mile oil change (at 7800 on the odometer -- oops ;-). I complained about the forward and back see-sawing between 40 and 50 mph, but purposely did not tell them about the TSB to see what they would figure out.

When they were finished the idiot service manager at the desk realized he had written up the oil change wrong even though I reminded him it was a CRD. (That must be why he manages service instead of actually fixing things.) The tech doing the work was paying attention and amended the work order for 0w40 synthetic. He also applied the TSB like he should instead of coming up with stupid imaginary mechanical failures, or the always enjoyable, "bring it back tomorrow when the transmission tech is here".

I asked about the ball joint recall and they said they still have not been given any information (or parts) to deal with the recall. They expect to get something from DC when everyone gets their letters in Sept.

The CRD drove home wonderfully without the dang, annoying surging.
