The wifes CRD is sick as a dog. Not enough power to accelerate to shift into second gear even. Is this indicative of a stuck open EGR? The last EGR failure did not malfunction in this way. There was some hesitation and poor performance, but this thing won't climb ahill at more than 30mph and it takes about 90 seconds to get to 60 on a flat road.

Anybody else experienced this?

I would check the fuel filter first. Lack of fuel would mean no power.

A stuck open egr couldn't do that much. Are you sure you aren't just experiencing limp mode, by some unknown cause? When that happens, I get power just as you describe (very little power; max speed uphill ~35; no turbo) but it does use gears 1 & 2. I don't know if limp mode would happen all the time as is sounds like it's happening to you. It may for some problems. Anyway, if that performance is the direct symptom, the fuel system is the 1st place to check. Are you getting any codes?

Start by looking for the obvious. First, check to make sure your CAC hoses are still attached, especially the hose from the turbo to the intercooler. Next, make sure you are getting fuel (bad filter) then make sure you are getting air (flow control valve broken/stuck closed). Are you getting any CEL codes? Are you getting black smoke?

So far we have a bad boost pressure sensor. The stealer has had it for 3 days..... He changed the fuel filter first. The dealer has an onstaff diesel tech, so I have hope.

It was the boost sensor. It did set a code. $300.00 later (Not covered under "powertrain") we're back on the road with some advice from te diesel tech to "blow it out" every so often.
