Well I had a great idea today, to follow another one I had the other day... I decided to remove my exhaust, well everything behind the cat at least. I won't lie, I took this guy's idea and ran with it: http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/vie ... p?p=107114 Well right now I'm running the exhaust straight off the cat, although I do intend to run some pipe out the side. For now though I am overwhelmingly happy with my decision to do such, the engine is running great and the turbo spools up much better. Its not that much louder than stock either, at idle it sounds a bit rice-like but at speed there is hardly a difference from OEM. There is definately a lower tone that resonates but it doesn't bother me one bit. Also I decided to remove the plastic pipe that runs from the airbox to the front, behind the passenger headlight that is. That along with removing the plastic plate thats on the passenger side of the grille, well its given me better airflow. Doing all this for free has definately upped the performance and MPG of my Libby, try it out yourself and see if you like it! |

I put a v-force on mine (same as Flowmaster) and like the tone much better, not Japanese vehicle at all. I also kept the tailpipe on so there no resonates. |

Wait till you get a full 3" from the turbo back. Really noticable improvment. Sounds like the big boys cummins trucks. |

Is one available??? I'd like to get a 3-4" downpipe & pipe that size for the rest of the way period. I have a buddy with a Dodge Cummins Dually running a K&N CAI and straight 4" custom exhaust with no cat and no mufflers. That thing sounds like an absolute beast!!! I would put it up against any semi for loudness |

Are you throwing any codes after removing your CAT? If not let me know where you found a 3" turbo back and I will buy one tomorrow! |

4" will be WAY TOO BIG for our 2.8L CRD...2.5-3" will be plenty. |

Most PSD's are 3-3.5" the real built go 4" and that is on a 7.3 liter V8 motor! 2.5" is more than enough on our little motors It would be cool to get some #'s but I bet just a better muffler will make the biggest difference. I wa happy to see the size of the stock exhaust..... |
