To All:

This is a follow up to my last post "F31 Nightmare".

Well, the dealer had my CRD for over two weeks, ever since killing it while attempting the F31 Recall. Monday, when I followed up to see where they were at, they said it could be ANOTHER 3 - 5 WEEKS before the part comes in.

So I went f#@king ballistic!!!

I highly recommend this approach to anyone experiencing this level of bullsh#t. I know some of you will accuse me of being a "little girl", but I am done with the CRD experience. Fortunately, I was able to get a beautiful new 2007 Jeep Liberty GASSER for a very fair deal, and they are still going after DC to try and get me even more cash back. Now mind you, I threatened to raise more hell than anyone in the history of their dealership, and believe me I was not kidding!

I sincerely hope your CRD experiences turn out better than mine. If not, remember this proverb:

One KJ gasser on the road is worth more than 11,000 CRDs in the shop.

So did they actually buy back your CRD? Sounds to me like they just sold you another car and made a bunch of empty promises. Sorry to hear about your bad CRD experience.

Thats a shame. Sounds like the dealer didn't have a clue how to flash, and DC doesn't have a way to recove a flash gone bad. I'm a field engineer for communication systems, and know the pain that can cause.

My experience has been completely positive, including the F31 flash. Only issue I've had with my CRD is the EGR went bad at about 20K. Had the F31 done at the the same time. With only about 11000 CRD's produced, and orphan status, We CRD owners are going to have to develop a thick skin.

Good luck with the new gasser :)

Unfortunately, the only loser is wtf. The dealer got to sell a new car off his inventory, gets a "rare" crd back to sell (when fixed) and wtf ends up with 14mpg.

I would not be happy with that outcome myself, if for some reason they couldnt fix my CRD, they better start looking for another one, cause that is what I would want, they can repaint it if they have to, but there is no substitute for this little beast.

Actually, they took 5K off of the new "2007" Liberty, and gave me 19K for my CRD (originally paid 24K). If you look into the A.C.V. (actually cash value) for a used 2006 CRD Sport, it's a lot less than 19K. It's actually around 16K, so there is no way they will "wholesale" my CRD for what they gave me. They will have to sell it on their lot just to break even.

Short of DC giving me back the full 24K I spent earlier in in the year (not realistic), this is a darn good deal, and I think anyone who has been shopping their used CRD around would have to agree.

What is sad is that a lot of the problems people have with the CRD, aside from the obvious three (TC, Tranny/filters and EGR) are due to dealer incompetence. For many, the transmission issue has been resolved, at least for the time being.

Many dealers don't have a diesel tech on-board and the regular techs probably dont take the time to read all of the available info in the Star system to handle CRD problems appropriately. My dealership does have a diesel tech. They wont give me a loaner car - darn then - but all of the re-flashes (Engine and Tranny) and other TSB's were performed with very little arguing (to get them done, even when I wasnt experiencing symptoms) and correctly.

Sorry you had that experience, but to rid yourself of the headache altogether, take your gasser Liberty to a different dealership for service because it sounds like your dealer's service dept simply doesn't know WTF (pardon) they are doing.

Sounds like the dealer made out fine.....You'll have to trust me when I say dealers never do anything to "just break even". If they did break-even deals for everyone they pissed off, they'd be out of business in a new york second. LOL

Peeps should remember that the KBB, NADA, as well as the others are just "guidelines" and by no means hard and fast numbers. i.e. popular vehicles can be well above the guidelines as well as not-so-popular vehicles being well below the guidelines.

Sorry to hear your CRD experience was bad and good luck with your gasser.

Yeah, in the car business the only losers are consumers and that's true for all of us.
Glad you got rid of one headache, now just get rid of the dealer.

Food for thought, 2006 CRD Sport with 11,000 miles just sold at ADESA (largest in the nation) auction for $20,000 wholesale. That CRD will probably go back on the lot with a sticker of $22,000.
The $5K you got discounted on the gasser would have been to anyone who walked in the door serious enough not to pay MSRP. My CRD Limited was discounted $7k from MSRP in '05.

The dealerships love a consumer making purchasing decisions when they are angry or upset. While it appears that they are trying to please and calm you with one hand by making a deal, the other hand is reaching for your wallet with a smile.

If that happened to me I sure as hell would not get a gasser liberty. Without the diesel, it's just a overly small, bouncy gas hog.

I hear you. I am sure the dealer will make money on my CRD. The important thing for me is that I got both a "good" deal on the new Jeep, and a "fair" trade on the CRD. More times than not, you'll only get one, or the other, when trading a car at a dealership.

Unfortunately, I do not have the thick skin that some of you do. Given, that I had yet to experience any of the "real" problems associated with CRDs (EGR, tranny, etc.) and was already looking at month of down time due to a recall notice, I simply felt it was time to more on. At least I'm still driving a KJ!

It's a shame that they did not give you a loaner for that duration of time. That would have helped you keep focused on working and not being without transportation.

When my transmission was out for three weeks the dealer supplied a rental free of charge including gas

The jeep web site listing liberty specs says all 2006 variations including CRD have disc brakes front and rear.
