Hey all,

Picked up an '05 Black CRD limited a few weeks ago. I'm a HUGE VW TDI fanatic so the CRD was a no brainer for me. I've been reading a whole lot about EGR and CCV issues that you've been having, things the TDI crowd has been dealing with for a decade or so. The best rescource, by far, for these issues is Fred's TDIClub at tdiclub.com.

At around 40k, the TDI's EGR and intake are clogged enough to hinder performance. Some members have used custom CCV filters and many used the ProVent. Many members also minimized their EGR cycle via ECU coding and some (including myself) completely disasbled the system by installing a block off plate on the EGR and deleting the EGR in the engine programming.

When have people experienced the EGR's clogging on these CRDs? I've noticed some people having issues at 3k miles, but I hope that isn't the norm.

Welcome! I don't think anyone has had a performance issue related to a blocked intake. The CRD is too new. However, people are aware of the issue and noticing oily mist in their intake. Several people here have installed the Mann Provent and I think I read one person blocked the EGR like you suggested. It is good to have someone familiar with this issue on the board.
