| Post subject: | CRD Morning Today in Colorado |
I have been seeing a few CRDs here in Colorado, usually one a week. Today as I was getting ready to get on the highway in Castlerock, CO I had a dark green CRD pass me. We both got on the highway, merged with traffic and a silver CRD joined the group. It was kind of fun having 3 CRDs in a line going down the highway. The silver CRD had added the same "turbo diesel" fender badge I added to my CRD, right below the CRD badge. Nice to see some other CRD drivers out there. I have 5500 miles on mine, best tank so far has been 27.7 mpg with a total average of 25 mpg since I purchased it new. I have a software program on my PDA that allows entering all the fuel and maintenance information, it tracks mpg, fuel costs and also graphs out mpg too. Loving the CRD so far, but have to take it in for the F31 and LBJ recalls soon. |

I saw one yesterday...I don't think people know how "rare" they really are! |

When shopping for a CRD last year I had built spreadsheet comparing all the CRDs that were available from online dealer inventory searches through the jeep web site within 100 miles of my house. There were over 100 on the list at any time. I assume they were also sold here. But, I've never seen a CRD on the roads. The Jeep dealer I bought from said I was the first person to buy one from them through the front door. They claimed to sell lots of CRDs for fleet use. Still, I've never seen a CRD on the road. |

Longrange, That was me. I was pleasantly suprised to see someone with the same turbodiesel badge on their vehicle. The CRD is my wife's vehicle, 26-30mpg on the highway doesn't cut it for my daily commute to Denver from Colorado Springs. Her commute is only 12 miles one way and I take it to Denver once every 2 weeks to give it some quality high speed driving. My current ride is a silver 06 TDI Jetta with no turbodiesel badge, yet Andy PS If you haven't installed a Provent CCV filter on your CRD, I'd be happy to help or do it for you. I'm glad I put one on her CRD. |

I travel the U.S. predominately east of Kansas and the Dakotas since I drive a Semi. I have seen one CRD in Eastern Tennessee, 1 in St. Louis, 2 in Michigan. I live in Iowa and have yet to see another even though I know they're out there. Just a side note: was in St. Paul on Saturday, and I think the entire town is hooked on the Libby. I saw one on every street and highway around the City and sometimes 2-3 in close proximity to each other. I lost track of the number of Libby's in that town. Didn't see a CRD in the group. |

I spot another one once in awhile. Saw silver Limited yesterday on highway 40 near Lake St. Louis with with a Bio Diesel spare tire cover and Missouiri license plates. Bio diesel isn't easy to find around St. Louis so the guy wasn't from around here. On a side I noticed he had a lot more soot around his exhaust than you normally see. |

Andy, I haven't installed the Provent yet but plan to. For now it's just the EHM. I may take you up on some advice for installing the Provent. The PDA software I am using is: http://www.lonewolf-software.com/autowolfppc.htm Ken |

Ken, Just holler when you want it installed, I was concerned that you diddn't have any kind of CCV mod. You would be amazed how much oil the Provent collects between oil changes. We've got 15k miles on our CRD since it was purchased this past Spring. No problems at all, 100% reliable. We religiously do 1-2 minute cooldowns on the turbo before engine shutdown. Don't know if that will help the delay the inevitable EGR failure but we'll see. I see from your profile that you have an EVIC. I wish we had gotten that option. Take care, Andy |

You know it's funny, when I first installed the EHM I was getting a few small spots of oil on the floor of the garage. I changed to Rotella T 5W-40 at about 3,000 miles and since then I have had not further oil spots from the EHM. I an actually thinking now that it is not really necessary, but since it is installed I think I will leave it until I get a Provent. I ran into a broadcast engineer in Colorado Springs with an 05 CRD and he was 20,000+ miles on his CRD with no CCV mod and no problems yet either. |

I live East of St. Paul and I can't drive anywhere without seeing a KJ. But I have only seen one other CRD, I saw it in South Dakota this past summer, funny thing is that it was from Minnesota. |

I've seen one other since June when I bought mine. What's funny is... it's the same one I saw back in April that I was drooling over. He got his bumper fixed since though. |

If you are talking about the turbo diesel badge that another member has, it is the cummins turbo diesel badge with the big C on top. What they did was cut the C part off so that all you have left is the turbo diesel part. They sell them on eBay in either black or red. Most of the print shops or silk screen shop and have a vinal decal made for about $3 as I did and you can get them in different colors. I have hda them on all our VW's and now the CRD about a week after buying it a year ago. I even put one on the back window to go with the diesel license plate frame. |
