I'm trying to track down my poor MPG problem. I have a Scangauge and the water temp hovers around 170 degrees. It gets to 180 at some point because the Scangauge records the peak temp. I never see it. I think this is too cool for maximum MPG and the thermostat may be opening too soon. Sooo, I need some numbers.

I have the factory service manual, it gives no numbers but refers you to the Diesel Diagnostic Manual. Don't have that manual does any one have it? Or, can any Scangauge users tell me what they are reading normally?
