Post subject:  Another tranny goes south?

I was extremely busy today shopping for a halloween costume when I noticed a new shudder at slow speeds. It occurred at <15 mph and while slowing. Throughout the day the shudder became so bad that the car was beginning to be undrivable. I took it straight to the Jeep dealer and forced the service advisor to take a quick spin with me. Luckily the Jeep was on its worse behavior of the day - shuddering, groaning, and not shifting out of first. I think he was scared. No idea what the problem is yet. Wont know till Monday most likely. Does this seem like TC problems?

Then I switched fuel stations yet again-- and it stopped as soon as I filled the tank. Have not been able to get the think to do any shuddering at all (slight hunt and peck at 55-- but not the bucking and shuddering from 1600-1900 RPM in overdrive that used to occur).

Bad Fuel, fuel leak in the line or EGR flow control valve is causing alot of aggravation to the tranny. That is just my belief currently-- and I used to think that it was all tranny and the EGR flow control valve was B.S. I just wonder if this causes problems that are helping to eventually trash the TQ.

Post subject:  did have some bad fuel recently

I filled up with some Exxon USLD just before my troubles. It might have been bad as the rig was smoking more than ever before. However the engine seemed fine. My slow speed shudder became extreme by the time I got to the dealer. The tranny was also holding onto gears- not shifting till over 3000 rpm. Also the jeep seemed to be holding onto gears- pulling as I came to stopsigns. I wont know anythiing till monday.

Dealer said that the TC had "come apart". He said that they were replacing it with a redesigned TC. He said that the original TC was "a new design" and the one they were going to replace it with was "a modification of an older design". Also the "front pump" is going to be replaced.

I think I am going to ask the regional service manager for an extended warranty. I don't think that a TC can come apart without sending metal shards downstream to other parts of the tranny. Any thoughts?

I have 14,500 or so on the libby. Almost all on highway - but there is a few miles of sweet sweet offroad in there. No egr problems. Dealer was good about rental - saying that I could have it past the five days. Right now driving a rental Magnum. Worst part was having to fill up with GAS yesterday. Dodge makes a diesel version of the Magnum- but we are not good enough to get it.
